McLean Falls

Absolute worth to walk. We enjoyed our walk to the McLeans Fall and the scenery is absolutely stunning. Must-Do for every nature Enthusiast. Beautiful waterfalls on the way.

So this is absolutely wonderful place! It is must on the to go list in the area.Got recommend by local and very much enjoyed the half hour path that takes you along the river, smaller waterfall and over a bridge to this magnificent beautiful beast.It its very popular and photographers with tripod do line the face of the rocks at the end of the path. So allow some time for a shot or be an early bird to avoid other fellow visitors.

One of the best and most beautiful walks we h’ve ever done. It was freezing cool when we visited but it was a memorable experience for my family. Kids love it and we captured some breathtaking snaps while walking.

It takes about an hour of easy walk to the waterfall. Quite shady along the track. Beautiful waterfall to enjoy the cool water and peaceful surrounding.

Nice walk, about 40 mins return, not much elevation through out the track. My 2 1/2 yr old boy walked the whole way.The fall is cool but not in a surprising way, but anyway, it’s a nice walk on the way.

Beautiful, easy walk from parking lot through some interesting native vegetation. Should take less than 20 minutes to get there. Waterfall was impressive.

The best falls I’ve seen in the Catlins, the walk in was well-paved and landscaped, and fairly wide, making for a pleasant experience. It’s a stunning view to behold when you reach the end. If you’ve only got limited time, make time for this one.

Amazing waterfalls. Surely one of the highlights of the southern part of south Island. Unfortunatelly it hets crowded quite easily so plan in advance if you want the best experience possible. But you will enjoy it anytime.+ toiletes on parking lot+ 15-20 minutes to get to the waterfall (nothing hard) There is a little bit steep encline with stairs at the end to get to the main waterfal. Below, there is second section, also nice.+ amazing vegetation along the walk+ for free- very steep gravel road to get to the parking lot. I was a little bit concerned (vanlife toyota hiace 1997) but it worked out. You should be fine as long as you dont have the weakest engine.- crowded (a lot of tourists with tripods and monopods make it somewhat less enjoyable)Still worth going there for sure!

If you are traveling through Catlins it's a really nice place to see. Walk is easy and suitable for little ones too.There are toilets available at the car park.In wet weather the path might be slightly slippery.Waterfall is amazing and walk trough the bush too.

30 minutes walk each way from the car park to the falls. Easy walking on the footpath but there are quite a few steps that may be difficult for people with mobility problems such as arthritic joints. The falls are worth the effort and there are rocks to sit on to rest and enjoy the wonderful views.
