Queens Park
An awesome place to picnic on a nice day. Views of either Majestic Square or the river, depends on which part of the park you visit. You can walk up to the Cenotaph, visit the Library or even the Museum. They are all located in Queens Park.

This is an iconic and historic area the Museum is amazing small in area and corporate 'set out' but big in content and heart. the libraries are great and atmospheric. There is a archive service and the Davis lecture theatre The lion steps are calming the Sargeant gallery is being extended and closed but still has a presence. there is a peace spiral a war memorial that is moving old tree colonial war memorial and Clarion.not to mention the War Memorial hall with the award winning mid century architecture and the view across to cook garden the view of cafes and people in majestic square Just marvellous and represents a great heritage can't forget toentikn the Whanganui brass band rooms tucked beside the Sargent gallery and techically the St Andrews hall accessed via Bells for pipe bands and ballroom dancing.

Queens Park
Big open area on a hill with good views over the city and if the hill suburbs. Has two of the city libraries with WiFi for both Notebooks and mobile. Parking and toilets when libraries are open. The museum lies to me corner along with a Children's library and The Davis Theatre and the War Memorial Area. Be careful if the pigeons which nest on the Palm tree tops. Close to downtown, river walks and the Saturday markets.

A beautiful climate in Wanganui & this lovely park is only one of many things to do here. Its the 2nd most temperate place to live in the world, I was told with good authority.
