Melrose cottages

Ten of us stayed recently in the two cottages as part of our 4-day bike trip. What a fantastic place - it’s really clean, the BBQ food was fantastic, as were the fresh apples straight from the tree and the little, thoughtful touches were loved, eg fresh flowers, an Easter egg…., the well stocked fridge with beverages & basic provisions… Panilla is a fantastic host and has all your needs covered. Highly recommend ❤️

Comfortable bed, bathrobes, mini bar, fully equipped kitchen, heat-pump, Netflix, waterfall shower, HOT TUB!!!!!! Birdsong to wake me up was a bonus and the host Pernilla went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable. The apple juice and fresh apples from the orchard were a lovely touch.

What a wee gem. Beautiful cottages set in the apple orchards. Can't fault one thing. Cheese board on arrival, well stocked fridge for a relaxing beer or wine, all with an honesty system along with a fully catered BBQ dinner. Attention to detail everywhere you look i.e. little rosebuds tucked into the robes, chocolates on the towels ...very special.

Such a beautiful part of New Zealand to stay for country walks and sightseeing. Melrose cottage is a comfortable home from home within a busy apple orchard run by Pernilla and Peter. Clean and cosy with all the mod cons, a hot tub outside and decks and gardens to enjoy. Dogs are welcome, the bbq packs are tasty and generous and the beds are very comfortable. Highly recommended

What a great place to stay whilst doing the cycle trail, so many surprises from being picked up at Faigans Cafe to the drop off. Totally unexpected, lots of ooohs and aaahs, take the BBQ pack add on and enjoy! Amazing hosts and location on their orchard.

Superb accommodation in a beautifully appointed house, a fabulous barbecue meal delivered that we cooked ourselves, a lovely hostess who goes over and above the call of duty ( however she couldn't quite sort the weather for our last day riding!) Excellent value for money - really recommend it

Relaxing, clean, super friendly. The pick up and drop off was seamless and easy and the self- catering food provided was a welcome change from dining out on the Clutha Gold Trail

Currently they have a house and a cottage. We booked and stayed in the cottage. 3 rooms with queen sized beds and 1 toilet. Rooms have a good size and the cottage itself it's very well equipped with brand new items. The beds are comfy. They have a good Internet connection and free WiFi. Smart TV with Netflix and etc if you wish so. You may also book the hot tub outside for an extra $20, it fits 2 people comfortable but you can manage to fit 4.The owners are very nice, friendly and have good communication skills. You can basically reach them anytime, not that we needed to do so. They also have plenty of apple trees. It's not included in the package but if you are lucky they might allow you to help them to pick some apples too. We enjoyed the experience and the region is beautiful with a lot of things to do nearby.

I've never before stayed somewhere where so much effort was put into thinking of everything! The bed was super comfy, the cottage was well heated (we stayed in June), delicious self cook breakfast included, fabulous shower, local fruit left as snacks, even lovely fluffy robes. The well stocked mini bar an excellent addition for if you discover you be forgotten anything after the local shop is shut. We'll be back!

This was by far my family's favourite stay as we travelled the south island. My only wish is that we'd stayed for more than one night. The hosts were absolutely amazing, the breakfast provided was delicious, the accomodations were perfect, clean and tidy. Even the soaps smelled amazing. I would stay here everytime im passing through or even go out of my way for a romantic getaway at this gem of an accommodation. Also, the workers were very friendly as we toured and explored the orchard and the hosts we've very knowledgeable about the area and their property if you need help finding things to do in the area or are interesting in learning about the process :)
