Land & Sea Cafe, Bar & Restaurant

Service was disappointing. We waited 30minutes for our order to be taken and waited one hour to recieve water and have our table cleaned.I had the mussels and they were over cooked served with canned tomatoes and onion. Bread was not crrispy and the beards were left in the mussels.I would like to see some love put into the food and service. Until then I would spend my money else where.

My family & I attended the Asian Fusion 5 course meal, matched with 5 wines and was blown away! The food was absolutely delicious and the wines were very well paired.The staff were super friendly, we will definitely be back for the next one. Thank you Team Land & Sea.

Felt very unwelcome. It was a Saturday afternoon and there was more staff than there were patrons. We found our own seats and menus when we went to order at the bar we were told it was cabinet food and chips only. Disappointing but understandable as it was between lunch and dinner. When we ordered, the customer service was miserable he wasn’t listening to anything I said, I had to ask him to change something 3 times and as for the price $18 for a cabinet dry croissant, well that really was the icing on the cake (or not). The whole meal was expensive. The only thing I can say is the location is pretty.

After we had a very poor experience at this restaurant I emailed them to explain my concerns. I did this because it felt fair to give them an opportunity to chat to us before a negative public review was posted and because in some of the replies to reviews, the owner had queried why patrons hadn’t written to them first. I emailed them well over a week ago and it has not even been acknowledged.So here is my complaint with this restaurant - some of the food was abysmal and overpriced and the service was appalling. The person who seated us was rude. Our waitress whilst very sweet was new and inexperienced and needed training and help. After checking our order three times, it was still wrong. Meals were missed and courses were brought out at the wrong time. This affected our enjoyment of the meal and was frustrating. Maybe this could have been forgiven if the food was good. It wasn’t. Two of of the meals were Caesar’s salads that were expensive. They were small and uninspired. Despite saying the salad came with anchovies, it didn’t. When we enquired where they were we were told the kitchen had run out. For a salad that has five ingredients for one of these to be missing, to not be told and then charged full price is a little galling to be honest. The rest (except for the fish and chips) was just as uninspired and overpriced. The fish and chips was fresh and the portion generous.In all of the replies to criticism the owner has said that covid has proven hard for the hospitality industry and customers should be more forgiving. We tried to be- but despite all the feedback this establishment doesn’t seem to take on any advice. What is also missing from the owner’s responses to other reviews is that we go out for meals in order to have a nice time and enjoy good food. Why should we continue to fork out money for a bad experience to a place that isn’t prepared to reciprocate the good will it expects from diners?

I liked Land & Sea Cafe. I had fish and chips and they were fantastic. Everyone else had crunchy chicken tacos and seemed to really enjoy them based on all the empty plates.It’s sad to see a lot of the negative reviews here complaining about the smallest things.I enjoyed my meal, thanks for your great hospitality. You are a fantastic addition to Marsden Cove.
