Wonderland Makarora Lodge
Cute little shale. On my way to Queenstown. 5mins drive to Blue Pools. Linen, bed and room are clean but kitchen, communal area, especially toilet and shower need upgrade. Doesn't worth $86 per person per night.

Wonderland Makarora Lodge
Stayed in a Superior Studio Room with private bathroom. Clean, cosy and amneties were sufficient. We had a little hiccup during checkup but the staff were absolutely stellar in helping us sort it out. Would stay again.

Leaving this review as I stay here, found a cumstain on the sheets, blood on the other sheets. Dirty as hell, not a single thing is clean nor is it useable. Stove is old and clearly isn’t cleaned at all, lodge REEKS of terrible smell, water is not even trusted, tissues are not even offered in the lodge, and it is full of random bugs. DO NOT STAY HERE, IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT ALL. STAY IN YOUR CAR IF IT’S BETTER FOR YOU

Chalets need a lot of maintenance. Curtain in the main bedroom area had no cord and could not be closed, we had to pin up a sheet. Existing holes in the wall suggest this has been the case for a long time. Toilet flush splashed EVERYWHERE, pretty gross. Fan in bathroom didn’t work at all. Electric stove controls literally falling apart. Big gap in the front door directly to the outside. Real shame because it’s a beautiful place, but the accomodation has been severely neglected. Lodge itself was a nice place to sit for a drink and decent meal.

Beautiful area. It was lovely to be amongst the bush and all the native birds. We stayed in the cabin with 2 outdoor baths and it was lovely to sit out in the baths together at sunset. The room was quite small and was outdated. Would be 5 stars if the cabins were done up.

Most amazing accommodation we stayed in in NZ. Such pretty scenery and stylish lodges. Cosy common area including fireplace and neat kitchen with utensils and cookware. Good hot showers. I can't find a fault really. Met some locals who were great for a yarn and gave us some tasty venison sausage. Also cheap.

Makarora is such an amazing place. The views are breathtaking and the staff are kind and helpful. There is no wifi at the cabins and some if the beds are very uncomfortable. Also there are so many sandflies. There is nothing there though. Wanaka is like an hour away.

Wow , what an amazing wee place. Absolutely loved it !!!. Everything you need is in there. The bed was amazingly comfortable. All they need is a little bathroom shelf though as no where to put your stuff. There was an amazing cafe just down the road. Will definitely be going back. Highly recommend!
