ilex mate

Yerba mate made easy! These guys have taken a super powerful South American herb and made a tasty, energising and easy-to-drink tea. Having many South American friends, I've only ever experienced mate the traditional way- sipped from a gord and thermos, extremely strong and very bitter. I was hesitant about ilex as I expected the taste to be the same. However, I have been trying to ease my dependency on coffee for several months so I decided to give ilex a go as a morning caffeine alternative. In this tea form, I find it so much more mild yet very effective. No more energy crashes mid-day or anxious jitters in the morning! Loving the peppermint flavor and have successfully swapped this for my daily cuppa. I can still enjoy an occassional coffee on the weekend without feeling dependent on it for energy. x

I'm someone who can't drink espresso as I'm too sensitive to the caffeine. What I like about ilex mate is being able to have a drink on hand for the days when I need a pick-me-up to help clear the afternoon fog but that doesn't make me feel overly jittery or nauseous ( as caffeine sometimes does ). The simple design and thoughtful packaging is appreciated too.
