Only 15 mins past Glenorchy, definitely worth the drive for the amazing views. Parking just before the bridge or of you have a four-wheel drive you could possibly drive down onto the river flats. It was worth sealing down the river to get a better if the mountains to the left.

If you’re looking to see the Isengard wide shot from the LOTR films, do this:1. Before getting there, get some signal (there is none at the location) and go on Google images. Search ‘Isengard two towers’. The first result (at least on my phone) shows you the wide shot of Isengard from the movies. Keep this image in mind.2. Driving from the east, heading west, cross the narrow bridge and park up on the left.3. Walk a few steps onto the western side of the bridge and look left, up the river. This is the shot from the movies!

You have to use your imagination and picture Saruman’s tower and subterranean works in this clearing. You need a 4WD to get across several creeks that may or may not have shin deep water running across depending on time of year (presumably).

Park on the left side immediately before the bridge (if you are coming from Queenstown) Then walk to the middle of the bridge (careful of cars. There is no walk way but also hardly any traffic) and take a picture of the mountains in the distance on the right hand side of the bridge. Those are the mountains in the Isengard background from LOTR.

Beautiful location, you will still enjoy it even if you’re not into Lord of the Rings

It's not far from Glenorchy, just around 15mins drive and you will arrived here.To be honest I was expecting something obvious like there is a board written as Isengard lookout but it didn't. I was wondering did I get to the correct places but the GPS is accurate. So you can trust them. Get to view the point when you get down of your car and you can see where they shoot for the scene of Isengard.

Beautiful spot on a beautiful drive. Just one of many filming locations. I visited a half dozen, or so, on my trip. This one was the most spectacular of those I saw. I saw a couple labeled as Isengard lookout, so for clarity, the one I've included pictures of is the one maps lists on the road past Glenorchy and Paradise, almost to the end of the dirt/gravel road. You will have to cross 8-10 streams/tributaries to get here. I believe there were 10 signs indicating fords. The first day, two of them didn't have any water to worry about. The second day, they all did. Some of them had a fairly substantial amount of water, running fairly quickly. I made it in a Toyota Corolla, so it's doable, but if it rains after you start, or begins to rain harder, be mindful that the levels will continue to rise for a while. If you don't want to risk getting stuck, or having to wait for water levels to recede, I'd recommend going when it's not raining, leaving at an appropriate time, or having a vehicle with sufficient clearance to navigate higher water levels.

Love LOTR but struggled to imagine Isengard here! Just couldn’t see where it would have been really! Lovely setting mind

We came on a rainy day and this is the scene you might see!Despite the wet experience, it probably resembled the darker scenes of Isengard. Had to use a bit of imagination for the set, but it is what it is!For die hard LOTR fans, you can decide whether it's worth to check out should there be an opening in the clouds.
