This is an established hotel, so all facilities are old however, it is VERY comfortable and has everything you need ie fully equipped kitchen, choice of bath or shower and complete laundry facilities. The staff are welcoming and endeavour to make your stay enjoyable. The position of the hotel is excellent. I would definitely stay here again.

Returned here for lunch after a great experience last time in Whakatane. This time very disappointed - staff sitting outside smoking, had to go search for them for service, no smiles - basically made to feel were being a nuisance. The food was lovely and the chef was the only pleasant experience. So, won't be coming back on our next visit.

Lovely meal. Nicely presented. However the person serving was more interested in her phone. She could have been cleaning windows on her down time. They were in need of doing. First impressions are everything.

A bed for the night is of primary importance. A comfortable bed is paramount. I am 5 foot eight, and my feet hung over the end of the bed. Actually is was more of a cot!A real single bed would have made the difference, maybe a suggestion to management?.

Indifferent staff. More interested in playing on their phones than serving customers. Food was just frozen" awful.Didn't even bring cutlery or condiments.Cleanliness left a lot to be desired too.I left my lunch and beer on the table and got away from there."

Beers & cheers Brenda & the team!!Location location is a must being a traveller.Cafes & shops just outside the front door, Ohope beach 10 minutes over the hill & of cos for something a little more relaxing soothing for the body, u can't ignore the Awakeri hot springs!Ma te wa!

Conveniently located in central Whakatane a short walk to the iSight and the water front. The main beach was a short drive away in the next bay.Our main room was comfortable and good value, with a TV that worked well though we found the bathroom though clean it was a bit smelly, probably the shower curtain. The hallway lights did shine through from the window above the entry door. The shared kitchen had everything we needed to be able to cook our own meals and the lounge area very comfortable with couches, armchairs and table's and chair's. There were also a couple of TVs to relax in front of over a drink and some food.

I did like this place to stay in, the rooms were very basic but the sticky ambience of the pub coupled with the distant doff-doof of the 21st birthday downstairs truely gave me a familiar and comforted sleep that night.

The staff were friendly it had a really good feel about it but there were a few bugs in our room and smelled of mould slightly.. love how there was an upstairs outdoor balcony and how there was an entertainment/lounge room that was nice and warm. The beds were very comfy thankyou, it's just the taps of the shared bathrooms the women's one were loose and my partner said while he was mid shower the tap fell off and it was really hot and he found it hard to turn off with it coming off.I would come stay again if the mould smell got removed and the taps were fixed.although everything else was 10/10 we still felt there should be a standard of mould and regular maintenance all round. Otherwise it was a good stay (:
