The sushi train is fun and affordable - it has your classic sushi types plus desserts, dumplings, and a few deep-fried treats. There were lots of fun drinks but all the cans were pre-opened, which seems unhygenic? Some of the chicken sushi was absolutely drowned in mayo, which made it unappealing to me but maybe a jackpot for someone who loves mayo. No-one checked on us at all - we called someone over after 20 minutes to order a beer. I feel like maybe get rid of the menus if you're not going to ask people what they want off it?

Cookai best sushi train in Christchurch. I have been here today and many times since they have opened. So fresh yummy and good taste and affordable prices. I would highly recommend a visit and A+++ service.

I really really wanted this to be my sushi train place. Unfortunately it just didn't . We went as a group for the sushi train experience. Service was friendly but they are clearly understaffed and under trained. We had to call the waitress a few time to get their attention and when asked questions about the menu, the poor girl didn't know how to answer. The sushi option was ok. They randomly had cold pad Thai noodles on the belt as well. Lol have to give them props for having kina and lobster on their menu. The beef tataki was not worth it. Sushi rice was a bit firm for my liking.Overall, it was ok but I definitely expected better.

Nice selection of sushi but inaccurate plates, make sure you check the bill at the end as I was charged for 2 red plates until I mentioned an orange plate is not red and should be the yellow price. Nobody checked up on me all dinner. Awkward!

Food was nice, but arrived at 7pm and raw fish etc wasn't fresh freshIts a pitty there wasn't more gluten free food and labeled on the sushi train signs to make it easier as has great potential for people with food sensitivities

Personal new favourite in town! Highly recommend the salmon sashi! Fresh, creamy and super tender! Ramen (tonkotsu also very lovely) with super rich broth. Lots of beverages to choose from as well. Five star! Will definitely come back many times in the future. :)

Cookai restaurant is a nice place with a lot of tables and seating areas. I practically liked the bot that could seat six easily. the moving plates train is always enjoyable for the kids. I had better sushi so I can't give them 4 stars. And prices were a bit high. I don't think I'll come back but it wasn't a bad place to eat.

Yum! Best sushi train ever! Yummy great variety of sushis and more food. There are some snacks for the kids too. Prices vary from the plate color. You can be full at $40 with small family or with a partner! Really amazing one of my favourites!

Good japanese food. Good environment.Wasabi has a high kick...The only thing not so good is the sushi train is always empty when reached our seats. Only snacks and drink left. We ended up ordering from the menu.U may park at The Crossing and bring along the ticket to be paid by the restaurant.

Probably one of the best (if not, the best) sushi trains in Christchurch. Well priced - you can find most of the common sushi for under $5, with the fancier seafood dishes above that. My average spend is often around $25-$30 here.Has many hot food items too as well as specialty sashimi dishes to order. The boats are great!Dessert options offered too.Would recommend!
