Beautiful in summer sunsets, Port Albert is not an active commercial port though. Located in the northern most part of the greater Auckland region, it is anchored in the middle of the Oruawharo estuary, 11km westward from its nearest small town, Wellsford. One of the few settlements by a Scottish Baptist religious group, Port Albert settlements started in 1862. One time this was expected to be a leading port in the northern region, even to compete with the Auckland port but it never eventuated and currently serves only to few fishing boats occasionally.

Stayed overnight in our camper. Place was quiet. Clean flushable toilets. Playground for the kids and a jetty to do some fishing. No complaints
