Culverden Bakery
Finally tried their famous Southernman pie and it didn't disappoint. We dined in around 1430h and they're still coming out fresh from the oven. Fillings are flavorful and seasoned well. Also tried the pork belly and chicken & brie which are yum.Would recommend.

Best little pie shop north of Christchurch, not only pies, they will serve you good coffee as well. I always stop here for a tasty bite or coffee whenever I'm in the area. It may be a little unprepossessing from the outside, don't let that put you off everything inside is great.

We generally love pies from here. The flavours are great, the pastry is beautiful. Marked down a little after my most recent experience. My chicken and brie pie was found to have some sort of filler substance. Neither my husband or I could even tell what it was. Maybe mashed potato or stuffing, but it was flavourless and stodgy (it was not uncooked dough). Was very disappointed and half the pie went in the bin. Most unusual from this place. Hubby's pies had no issues and he found them to be up to the normal excellent standard.

Great selection of pies, filled rolls and drinks. Maybe a cover over the scones would be a good idea. The fly screen door stays ajar. That aside a good break stop.
