Very enjoyable tour. Our guide was very friendly, passionate and knowledgeable. He was also very accommodating when I arrived an hour earlier and could squeeze me in an available slot.

Fascinating place, awesome to to see some the ways they create their models and special effects. The guide was really enthusiastic and knoweledgable about everything that Weta workshops do, we met one of the modelers and were shown how to make small models using tinfoil.

The trip was absolutely amazing. If you are into movie making techniques or behind the scenes type stuff this is definitely a must! The tour guide, I can't remember his name, was really helpful in making sure the tour was a memorable experience. You can't take any photos inside the tour but I didn't need to in order to cherish the experience. The attached photo is of one of the statues inside the shop/lobby. 10/10 a must do for a wellington trip!

I loved this, a lot of movie memorabilia that was displayed well. I went with 2 young kids they were mildly interested, but overall, probably not there thing. Because of this we just looked around the cave and didnt do a tour, cave is worth a stop and ill be back at somestag to do the tour.

A lord of the rings (or simply movies) fan cannot miss this. It is utterly mind-blowing what these people do here and to be able to take a peek behind the (literal) curtain is amazing.Tom was a great guide and quite obviously loved his job of explaining how everything works.Parking is mediocre nearby so make sure you go in advance to ensure you arrive on time. Being early is not bad at all either ad the mini museum and shop are definitely worth visiting as well.

Weta Cave
Good little shop and museum. Has props from Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Tomb Raider , District 9, Avatar and other films. Takes about 15 minutes to get through everything. For a more in-depth experience you need to do a tour.

The Weta Cave is a must-see in Wellington if you appreciate crafts and design work - and especially so if you are a fan of Weta's movies (the Tolkien ones in particular). Entry to the cave itself is free, but guided tours are paid and should be booked in advance. Even if you cannot secure tickets, head to the cave to see the props and costumes on display - they are truly magnificent. If you can go on a tour - you won't regret it!
