Mapua Leisure Park

We have been coming to Mapua Leisure Park for years but will not come again. $62.00 a night for a non-sea view powered caravan site is on par with the price of a lake view powered site in Queenstown (Frankton Holiday Park) We stayed at MLP mid-April - admittedly over the school holidays, but not high peak summer season. The facilities at MLP are very tired and no amount of fresh (but blistering) lime green paint is going to change that. The tracks around the camp are heavily pot-holed. The cleanliness of the facilities weren't great, but with the over all shabbiness it would be difficult to make them look fresh and clean.. The children's playground is a Health and Safety nightmare and needs urgent work on it. To be fair, it is difficult to see where the exorbitant rate charged is being spent! The staff, however, are friendly and efficient.

A sad case of kiwis don't complain about getting the minimal" massive grounds but tiny kitchen area and with toilets and showers creamed on to of each other with no shelter around them

Very clean, well maintained camp, with friendly and helpful staff.

Booked 3nights ended up staying a week. Best campground I've stayed at. Right on the gorgeous sandy beach, with a pool .Biking and walking distance to the warf for food. Really loved our stay and cant wait to return! My only complaint is I wish the bird was not locked in his cage all day. Parrots need a bit more interaction. Please take bird out daily!

Nice camp site, good location. Didn’t expect it to be a nudist site but when we arrived people assembling tents, in the pool, wandering around naked!Personally I don’t love mixed gender bathrooms in a small lockable block just doesn’t feel safe for me going in the dark.Otherwise great place very nice helpful lady on reception.Bird in the cage seemed a bit cruel

Am still here. A great place. Friendly staff. Lots of walks. 10min walk to 4square. Beautiful views. To Richmond hills, Nelson. And the endless sea.

Locatio, location, location! Absolutely loved it. Even question on reception would you prefer more quiet site or busier? Nobody asked us before! Well done. 100 points. Friendly staff, clean camping ground. We even extended formone more night stay. Loved it!Not sure about recycling deal in Māpua but would be great to have more recycling option than just glass bin.

We had a powered campsite for our Caravan. A very relaxed campground. Short walk into either supermarket or local pub. Ability to park near facilities or the water, whatever suits.
