Love the decor! Love the music that they play! Milkshakes are really good. Beef Burger was good with its homemade pattie and the pickle on it was yum. Savoury pancake stack was nice with the bacon, banana and maple syrup. For the price and the word stack" I was expecting more pancakes but you get 2. We also tried the steak pie n mash from the $17 trucker menu. The pie was microwaved

We decided to come here today, half our group of friends walked out from rude staff. We stayed and ate our poor friends next to us waited a long time to be able to even order while the cooks made our food. Pancake stack was very very dry. My husband's lambs fry looked like dog vomit on a plate. The place looked amazing and clean I just wish there was decent cook and food in this place.

Lovely 50s-restaurant-themed place with a even more Lovely couple preparing and serving fast, delicious and well prepared food.Super Clean and tidy, including the toilets.We were in a group of six for breakfast and everybody left happy with the food and service.As the day was Matariki holiday, before ordering they informed us that would have surcharge over the total bill and I loved been informed about it.Recommended!

Lovely little gem to stop at during a road trip. The food was delicious. I recommend the pork ribs! Service was good and the establishment is well themed.

What a great find. The food was plentiful and delicious. We went as a large family ranging in age from 6 to 70s and we all loved it. What a great place to go with great 60s decor. The truckies know where to go. A good range of what you would expect from an American diner. A hidden gem.

Strong American style set up, clean, bright and spacious. Right next to the Hilton hotel, easy access, plenty parking for trucks, RV and cars. However I would only give two stars for the food.

Love the old school diner look. Food was delicious and staff were friendly and cheerful. Kids loved the milkshakes being in the old glass milk bottles.Absolutely recommend The Local Diner to anyone looking for a great meal.

Absolutely LOVE this place!! Gary runs it so well and you can tell this in the food! It's nothing fancy but that's what makes it what it is! I would say reasonable on price as it's hard to eat anywhere in NZ without it costing the earth! We've been up a few times as locals and I normally love the breakfast and he loves the burgers! A little off the beaten track but worth it!!!

This place is really good value. The food is really really good. The owner is hilarious. I'll definitely be back. I'm a local and havnt been here since before it was revamped. They've done a good job and the food has improved greatly.
