Waipatiki Beach
One of my fave beaches when I'm in the bay. Super hot sand but it's worth it. Since I was younger they now have lifesavers there and an ice-cream truck selling cold drinks and ice-cream.

This beach is well worth the drive if you’re staying near Napier and want some sand instead of pebbles. The river flowing to the ocean is a great alternative if you want avoid the crashing waves with the littles.Waves were great for boogie boarding, body surfing…ask the things! Sad I didn’t plan to be there for the whole day.

Great quiet seaside village. Lovely beach, great for swimming or surfing on the right day and plenty of scenic walks to discover.

Gorgeous beach, the river is perfect for children. Be careful of the waves though, two separate rescues happened while we were there today.

Omg, blissful two hours staring out to a turquiose sea on a beautiful summer-like day. Fond memories of spending my childhood at this beach with cousins. Pity they've levelled all but one of the baches and sub-divided/prepping the road in. A shame the dead bloated cow on a walk around the rocky point put a stench in the air/a permanent visual stamped on my brain...just saying to whoever needs to sort that out...

Beautiful Beach! Big waves, not for the faint hearted. Cute inlet/lagoon area which is a bit calmer. Would love to come back to explore more, walk around at low tide. Plenty of lifeguards ready to go for a hot summer weekend.

Peaceful sea side with a nice little river. Great for boogie boarding. Limited playground for kids. Not all sites have power or water. The river is not always swimmable due to low level or algae.
