After going to about 5 different places or so asking a general idea of how much a gearbox rebuild would cost most either did not respond or seemed like they did not want to deal with me, WAGS on the other hand were friendly from the start and told me they wouldn't know the cost until they tore the gearbox down to take a look (fair enough to be honest) They said since they need to order parts from Japan it would take about a month and a month later my car is ready to pick up. They even showed me my old gearbox parts and what failed and caused the crunchs etc. There was a little issue when I picked the car up but I called them up straight away and took it back and they fixed it within an hour for free. Great communication, no bs and straight to the point. The gearbox honestly feels like silk now after what they done to it and the clutch is 10x more consistent. Thank you Ollie!

I am not normally someone who bothers reviews but had my car booked in at WAGS for some exhaust work and just wanted to say the quality of the job and service i received was top class and guarantee ill be returning in the near future, even though they seemed fully booked with work the turn over of my exhaust was quick and pretty spot on with the quote i received.I felt really appreciated as a customer and that they went out of their way to get my car ready on the day i needed it even though my work was much smaller than some of the work they have going on i am sure!

Couldn't believe the low rating and had to give a review myself...I have been to WAGS numerous times with my problematic MR2. They by far have the best communication to any shop I have been to and are very honest about what they think the best options for my gearbox and engine issues I have had. Great guys and they do good work. Although I ended up spending a lot of money here fixing my car they did give me discounts for some unforeseen issues and things that came up. Would highly recommend!

Just recently had my sequential kit setup by the team at WAGS. Extremely happy with the end result. Communication was great throughout the entire process and the team there are just genuinely good guys. Would definitely recommend.

I don't normally bother with Google Reviews but these guys need more than 1 star.I've dealt with WAGS on 3 occasions and all were good experiences.This review is on the latest interaction. I needed work one my car and had budgeted for around $2k, so here goes...The team at WAGS have always exceeded my expectations on the way they engage with you as a customer.From email contact to verbally and in person, my interactions with the guys there has been very positive and speedy.They seem to be a good bunch of guys who love what they do, care about their customers and involve you in their process to resolve whatever your problem or service needs are, this is reinforced by the state of their workshop and how they present the business to the public - it looks super clean and well setup - not to mention there's always some mechanical eye candy being worked on in there...My only reason for 4/5 was I ended up overspending by 20% which is not really a reason to mark the business down and I feel bad for not going 5 stars. This rating is more a reflection on MY experience on this particular interaction.Their work was done to a high standard and they handled my last minute requests without issue. If I could go 4.9 stars, I would...I encourage readers to try these guys, they're very knowledgable and have a good reputation in Wellington (I know a few mechanic's who rate them highly). I DO NOT recommend WAGS.They originally quoted me $1500 for my gearbox to be fixed. I had an option of getting a fully reconditioned gearbox for $1250 from trademe and spoke to the manager at wags about that option he pointed out that it would cost less to have WAGS fix it than for me to buy the recond gearbox and have it fitted.This is the point at which I should have asked for a written quote and not just taken his word for it.I took my Ute in expecting it to cost ~$1500... boy was I WRONG!!So about two weeks after dropping my Ute at wags I receive a phone call from James who said that they didn’t realise the design of the engine and it was now going to cost $2700!! (You’d Think they’d check the engine make and model before giving me a $1500 quote..NOT WAGS)I asked about going with the other option to buy the one from trademe and have my local mechanic fit it, however James at wags pointed out I’d still have to pay wags for tearing down the gearbox(despite the problem already being diagnosed by DIESEL AND TURBO.)I asked how much I owed them at that point, it was over $500. He claimed it took over 5 hours to tear down my gearbox. WAGS had me hamstrung at this point... they lured me in with the cheap quote, did some work to it before giving me the call that it was going to cost almost double the original quote. I was stuck between a rock and a hard place because I had no choice really other than to let them continue.The manager at WAGS gave me his word that $2700 was the final drive away cost...A week later I receive another phone call stating it was now going to be $400 extra because “James” had to drop the front differential and oil pan to change a seal otherwise there’s a highly likely chance of a leak. Why did they not let me know all of this at the very beginning when I had the chance to go with a much cheaper option that would have made WAGS less money? Exactly that, they were after my money.I was trapped at this stage, they were at least $1500 into the job and I had no choice, once again I had to give in and say yes do the work because of course I don’t want my Ute leaking oil....Another two weeks go by and I get the call to pick up the ute. I go in and the bill was well over $3600...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. WAGS ARE ROGUE TRADERS WHO WILL LURE YOU IN WITH CHEAP QUOTES AND TALK THEIR WAY AROUND CHARGING YOU OVER DOUBLE THE ORIGINAL QUOTE WHEN YOU GO TO PICK UP YOUR VEHICLE.

Booked in a vehicle for a pre-purchase inspection, after finding that the AA who I usually use had no availability. I was able to be booked in for the day and time that suited me. Dave was great to deal with and gave me a detailed run-through of his findings on the phone (which I found much more useful than a generic report) before emailing me further info. He gave advice beyond what I expected and was extremely helpful in answering any questions I had. I would definitely recommend WAGS for anyone wanting to book in a pre-purchase vehicle inspection, I found them better to deal with than any of the companies I have used in the past. Thanks Guys!
