Tekapo 1929

My partner and I stayed one night in the Pioneer Cottage at the back of the property. When we first walked in, the strong smell of greasy food/takeaway hit us. There were dead bugs all over the bathroom floor and in the shower, as well as on the ceilings. When I questioned when the property was last cleaned, I was told it was cleaned 2 days prior to our stay but that seems hard to believe. There was also long grass coming through the cracks in the lounge door, and there was also mouse droppings on the counter as well as under the sink where the chopping boards and cutlery were. And there were droppings on those too. So we didn't use the bathroom or the kitchen much as they did not feel clean.On the plus side, the location was excellent and the heat pump did a great job when it was 3°C outside.All in all, I'm very disappointed and wish I'd spent my $240 on a nice, clean hotel room instead.

I can not believe this place is still operational. It was filthy! Not to mention expensive with no privacy. The layout of the room was hideous, nowhere to put our bag. Do not stay here under any circumstances. It is a rip off! All they want is your money, you’ll not see them again after you paid.

Beautiful setting and newly renovated bathroom and kitchen, comfortable stay.

Listed as disabled friendly but no wheelchair entry and shower over bath. No kitchen nor cooking utensils or dishcloth /washing up liquid. Has microwave and fridge but no microwave bowls etc Fridge empty ie no welcoming milk nor provision for water jug/bottle. Priced at $251 per night not worth that for week. Clean and tidy tho. Tekapo itself dead" main tourist attraction the church not open for viewing. Don't stop here."

Very classic cottage with lake view. Close to church of Good Shepard. There are apple trees in the garden.

Location is good, and within walking distance to the church. The apartment itself was spacious. However, the unit I stayed in needed to wait for about 3 minutes for the hot water to come in, and halfway through the shower it got cut off...

Comfy bed and lovely heated floor in the bathroom. However, no sink in the living area and had to wash crockery in the bathroom. No where to hang coats need, needs some hooks. Good views of the lake.

Beautiful old school cottage right by the water and at walking distance of the village. We haven't met the owner while we were there, but have exchanged friendly email instead. The room is well furnished, and the bathroom has a ceiling window to watch the stars from the bath... A must!

A cosy bach with very updated bathroom. The only downside was a personal one - they've got plenty of chicken figurines and pictures which were a huge NO for me as I have phobia towards the said animal.
