We had an outstanding experience here. We stayed for two nights as our honeymoon. The location is quite simply incredible. The apartments all feel very private whilst at the same time giving you expansive views of the bay. We paddled with SUPs and kayaks both mornings with the dolphins. The small occupancy and expansive grounds means the resort does not feel commercial at all. The food is very good, especially given the remote location. We thought that overall this offered reasonable value, and would love to come back one day.

We had such high expectations for this resort as our booking agent (Audley) had convinced us it was the place to go. Maybe it was once. It is a truly picturesque location but the resort feels worn. The room we had was ok but we expected far, far more for the price. The decor is dated, our sink was cracked, the fruit plate was old (the peach had mould on it). A ventilation fan for the kitchen seems to run until the early hours so it’s not quite as serene as we expected. The food was ok, but unremarkable. Neither my wife or I could eat the eggs for breakfast as they were bland and swimming in oil. The tasting menu was uncreative, bland, tiny portions and generally over cooked. The place feels set up to maximise customer spend, not to make guests feel really special, as the price implies (it takes 30 mins to get there by water taxi) It’s a shame because it’s an incredible location. The staff seemed indifferent to us (for example, we had to ask for cushions for the outdoor furniture and no one took the time to show us around the resort). To be fair, the weather was poor while we were here and that probably meant I focused on the resort more than I would have had the sun shone. So I’d say there are probably better places to spend your time and money. This place needs serious TLC, far more high end touches, better leadership and more investment.

The food was great and the staff were fantastic too, in particular Aaron, Chris and Sophie. However the general manager Graeme generally doesn’t manage anything well. However if you enjoy booking meals 6 weeks in advance and having them either not written down anywhere, booked in for a different meal than what you asked for, or having your booking changed on the day due to the restaurant being full while you sit there and see it clearly isn’t, then Graeme is the man for you!

We loved the picturesque views, food (degustation )and the spa. It is great that you have such amazing chef and good spa facilities in a remote area and of course access to the various walks.Your staff are very friendly as well.We however were very disappointed with the rooms. We paid almost 20 k for 4 nights. We are avid travels in NZ and throughout the world and have stayed in lots of 5 to 7 star properties. I believe your prices are amongst the highest at 3 k per night for Kureru room. At that price; one would expect standards like no other. I am afraid besides the view and the free mini-bar; there was not much to the room. The set up/ design of the room, the lack of appropriate / balanced heating in the room, cold bathroom room floors (lack of under floor heating ) made for a very inconvenient 4 days stay and sleepless nights!!I am very sorry but I believe you accomodation prices are enormous for the facilities you provide in the room.We have been to Wharekauhau and Stoneridge estate in Queenstown (to name a few) at lower price than yours but facilities that justify the price. We left the venues with great compliments and of course totally satisfied. I am sorry to put this in as they are your competitors but I wanted to point out that people do not mind spending the dollar if they are treated to it.

I’m going to have to agree with @BigRed1NZ on this; it’s not what it once was. But I’m not going to ping the Resort on the star rating because it didn’t do much for us. It might suit others. What I can do is share an impression … We dropped in for some food and drinks on our way back from Ships Cove. We tied up to the jetty and were ushered to the cafe where we were told in no uncertain terms that the cafe and jetty was the only area we were allowed to be. Okay, I guess. Was it because we had children with us? It’s certainly not like other resorts in the Sounds - like Lochmara, Punga or Furneaux - where day trippers are treated to the same welcome, amenities and service that the staying guests are. We were (just) day trippers and I suspect Bay of Many Coves is catering for a certain clientele. I don’t think they’re aiming for families pulling up in a fizz boat for a coffee and a muffin. The Resort is probably wonderful for people who stay there (as is evident in the many positive reviews) but being day trippers we felt a little … well, second class. Sadly, I don’t think we’ll be back any time soon.

Wow! What a piece of Paradise in the beautiful Queen Charlotte Sounds. Woken by the sun shining in to the deck, then sitting up in bed to watch dolfin and seals in the bay.Three restaurants with top class meals, a lovely pool and our favourite - a barrel hot tub under the stars. The perfect way to end a day of relaxation and marvelling.General Manager, Graeme was there to meet the water taxi and showed us around the resort and to our room. His pride in the place is tangible. Graeme has a keen eye for detail and is always on hand to explain or to go that extra mile for a guest. Loved the chocolate! We will definitely be back. Thanks, Graeme and all of your wonderful staff for the best ever four days.Shani and Murray

We stayed at this beautiful spot to celebrate our wedding anniversary, so it was a very special occasion for us. We found that the quickest and easiest way to get there was by helicopter from the airport, although ferries also come here daily couple of times. We loved the room, although it was a bit dusty in places and some of the fixtures were 'tired'. The staff were super-friendly and the lady duty manager (sorry i forgot her name) was extra attentive, which made us feel very special. We also did not cross paths with too many other guests, which made our stay feel exclusive and romantic.Food was good, but expensive degustation dinner was underwhelming, with couple of items not cooked to its best. Breakfasts and lunches were fabulous.I would say that overall this resort is pricy for what you are getting.Would we come back again? Not sure.

Hi GraemeI have replied to you by email. Your assistant manager Rianne Kuiper previously quoted the charge of $3515 per night which was confirmed by email and phone call yesterday. You wrote back to us today to tell us that this rate was for Jan 2022 which has already passed. You increaed the rate to $4230 per night.I now have to cancel my flight booking to Wellington and my planned trip to Bay of Many coves resort because I cannot trust your resort.
