Rua Awa Lodge
Rua Awa Lodge is a magical experience. The lodge has a tremendous backstory, having been converted from a well-known saddlery and equestrian venue. The accommodation is spacious and well-appointed. The fire is excellent, and warms the main lodge and the bedroom. The kitchen facilities are excellent and equipped with everything for a great stay, from toaster and Nespresso machine through to a wide selection of cooking implements. The breakfasts are outstanding - Sheryl and Warren provide a great selection of produce made on site, from fresh eggs through preserved fruit, condiments and granola. And great homemade Kombucha! We took up the offer of Rua Awa meals and these were similarly tremendous. The outside bath and shower are wonderful and private - both for a relaxing soak and a clean. The Lodge is well-equipped with reading material, including advice on things to do locally - there is a surfeit of activities on site and nearby, or it is possible simply to choose to relax and enjoy the surroundings. A great experience, with exceptional hosts. We will come back again!

A truly magical place! We stayed after completing a chilly Tongariro Northern Circuit and this place was the best balm for the soul and body. Sheryl and Warren provide such thoughtful touches as well as amazing food, all sourced, grown or made by them...very impressive! Rua Awa has such a sense of belonging, at the same time as providing an escape from the busyness of modern life. It's a VERY special and charming place and we will be back later in the year to recharge and relax.

This place is amazing. A peaceful spot with great hosts. I love how the food is from the garden and the eco practice in place. Love all the fruit trees and being able to sit by the fire outside and just take in the surroundings.

Absolutely loved my time at Rua Awa Lodge, nestled away in Kakahi. The hosts are very welcoming and passionate about what they do. The lodge itself offers a great countryside getaway, used as an accessible base for adventure or to simply relax and get away from it all. You can choose to self cater or select from a range of nutritious yummy meals. With private yoga sessions available too, this place offers an oasis where you can pause from your daily life to centre yourself and focus on your personal health and well-being. Highly recommended!

I booked an over night stay for a 1st year anniversary. We came down from Auckland and stopped at the sun flower garden on the way. We checked in and it was perfect. Would recommend, Warren and Sheryl looked after us well. Thankyou

Stayed last weekend. We were blown away by how beautiful it was, so incredibly presented and clean. We ordered dinner and dessert from the Kakahi kitchen and it was amazing. Felt like absolute luxury! We had everything we needed there, loved every minute of our stay at the gorgeous lodge- can’t wait to stay again!
