Sari Sari Filipino Kitchen
We visit this place every time we come to Christchurch for the food, sadly, not the service. Tonight, we enjoyed the usual crispy pata (a must have) and pancit canton. In addition, we had the kare kare beef and the sago’t gulaman drink. The food is devine; tasty and generous. The food was not as hot as we would like, but okay - just like in the Philippines. Our biggest let down was the lack of service. The solo guy running front of house never smiled all evening, failed to engage with customers and gave the distinct impression he was there under duress. Our table lacked serviettes and adequate cutlery. Tables about us were littered with dirty dishes and the remains of others meals. He did not appear to have a system in place for clearing tables and ambled from one table to another randomly taking some items at a time out to the kitchen. He had no sense of purpose or focus. This place has great potential, but clearly has a staffing issue.

Ordered chopsuey and bicol express on a Saturday evening 03-June almost 6pm.The presentation looks great but taste is not good.Chopsuey tastes like mix veggies where you put some soy sauce and water. There's no flour mix into it and doesn't really taste like Pinoy Chopsuey. Though presentation was nice but thats about it.Bicol express presentation was gourmet. However, the sabaw or its soup, tastes pure coconut milk and the meat was fried and not cooked with the coconut milk. It doesnt taste like bicol express. The fried meat on top of the soup doesnt even taste good.It seems like the taste of food in sarisari is not up to standard when compared when I first dined in 2yrs ago. Only the presentation was great.I also ordered sarisari rice but the rice doesnt taste fresh. It taste like the rice from 90secs ready to eat rice. Again presentation was great but taste terrible.Im disappointed and wont go back again as the price is not worth it. Sorry.

My family and i went here last week, and the food was very authentic (according to my Auntie who is Filipino). Their dishes were aromatic and flavoursome, and well sized. The lamb curry and hotplate pork dishes were especially delicious. The desert we had was like a panna cotta (a specialty of the Phillipines). We all decided we'd come back again.

In the heart of the busy central business district of christchurch, sari sari is offering different variety of Filipino cuisine with a mixture of some dishes that suites the taste of other nationality including kiwis. This restaurant is a good go to place for trying out Filipino foods, for they have several unique Pinoy loved dishes like sisig, karekare, sinigang and many more. Furthermore, this place is so accessible and near to places like the bus station, and supermarkets. Staffs are also uphold a high standard of service and a friendly demeanour.I really love their eat all you can menu tbh. But if I’ll choose my favourite dish it’ll be “karekare”

Over priced food for very small portion average tasting food. Had to wait for ages for one of our meals to a point where everyone is already finished eating before it arrived to us so we just ended up taking it away. Very unpleasant experience over all.. will highly NOT RECOMMEND.

Delicious food. This is a great place to try Filipino food if you’ve never had it before. The dishes are savory and the Halo Halo “milkshake”-like dessert is a must!

Not a good destination for any vegetarians, definitely a no go for vegans. There are only two vegetarian options in the menu for main courses: noodles with vegetables or chop suey (non-descript array of vegetables). I ordered the noodles (to which I couldn't even add an egg) and found that, unfortunately, they consisted mainly of pasta, broccoli and cauliflower in a thin broth with not much flavour. The addition of tofu or some vegetarian / plant- based protein to the menu would be most welcome.
