Mt Cook Alpine Salmon Shop

A small shop that sells thrift and souvenirs and fresh salmon. A good deal of baby salmon gutted and gilled, 1.4-1.8kg for $35! And a great view of the mighty Aoraki, a place worth stopping by.

EXCELLENT SALMON SASHIMI, great value for price!!! 500g salmon sashimi for about 40 over NZD, which was really cheap compared to sashimi from Japanese restaurants or at least the sashimi I’m used to.Quality is really good and fresh too!Views are stunning and spectacular, drove down and visited the shop twice during my short stay at Tekapo. Lady at the counter was very friendly as well. Highly recommended!!!!

Best Salmon I have ever had ever! Loved the Sashimi- so fresh and tasty. Bought some boneless fillets as well and cooked some Tarayaki Salmon in the hotel. Everyone loved it! Would definitely go again next time I go to Tekapo / Pukaki.

Absolutely incredible sashimi that melts like butter in your mouth, we couldn’t get enough! An amazing place to stop on a nice day and sit outside, however there isn’t much seating inside if the weather is bad.

Location next to information center and right next to the lake. We had good deal for salmon sashimi (buy 1, get 1 free). We had it right on the spot, since there are dining tables next to a car park. Taste was really good, worth giving it a go.

Wonderful stop for a snack or lunch, not a huge fan of salmon myself but this was excellent, my partner absolutely loved it. 100g is a decent snack for 2, and they will provide some small ice packets if requested to take with you. They also sell some small pieces of cheese and crackers, the evansdale brie cheese had a harder texture and quite the tangy flavour, enjoyable but different than creamy brie.One of the best features of this place is the view and surrounding area. Picnic tables are right outside, but the real beauty is found by navigating your way along the large rocks down closer to the lake water. Find a comfortable rock on a sunny day and it is surreal to enjoy fresh sashimi out there looking over Lake Pukaki towards the Mount Cook range.
