Tokaanu Thermal Walk
Nothing like going to tokaanu hot pools after a day on the mountain. Only thing lacking is a shower facility for after the pools to clean off chlorine. Maybe in the future it may be added. Thanks staff for all your help. Great service.

Park at the pool and wall on the left of the pool entrance - it's free and really good, you can get really close to a lot of the springs. There was no one there when we visited just before 5pm in May-21. Saw lots of chickens and a cute homeless cat (she's friendly).

Cool for a free attraction. A few mud pools bubbling away and some really trippy looking thermal activity. Worth the visit, probably about 20 min only

Free walk. Cross the bridge and take a hard left. About 20 mins of awesome geothermal pools to explore. Some really interesting history to learn too. Definitely worth a stop and walk around!

Tokaanu Thermal Walk
Fantastic walk with a relaxed and quiet atmosphere. Appreciated the lack of quantities of tourists found at other sites. My only ask is that the iwi put a donation box there! Would love to be able to contribute to the preservation of the environment and community.

Special place you should see. It's free and you can see a lot of different pools with hot water etc. 15 to 20 minutes walk.

Tokaanu Thermal Walk
Free walk, starts at the public pool. You will be rewarded with a few Geothermal pools and Mud pools during the short 20 mins easy walk. Best done in covered shoes as the gravel is rough. The steam from the pools would feel warm and comfortable during winter when the weather is cool.

With normal shoes you can't do the full walk as part of it is flooded with warm water. Take the walk to your left which leads to the thermal pools. Unfortunately there are no explanation about what is happening here.
