Waitonga Falls Walk Trailhead
As if a beautiful walk through the forests and the Alps. Beautiful views by Mount Ruapehu Turoa. You can not see the waterfall correctly from the podium but if they defend some rocks and along the river stream, you can get a better view. It was a wonderful picnic, yes there are a lot of stairs, but the total rise is worth about 200 meters. Pass, bridge and waterfalls in one picnic! Get the value for your time. Walk is very stunning. I can not recommend this enough. The best waterfall may have ever seen in New Zealand. Once you arrive at water, make sure you walk near the waterfalls. It is like a very close runway. We found it easier to walk on the left side of the bank and the river. But be prepared to show your feet.

This is a lovely walk. Slightly challenging with the gradient and the stairs but nothing a 5 minute rest didn't fix. The view of the mountain from the boardwalk is well worth the effort. The Falls were nice. If the water was lower I would have ventured across the stream for a better look on the other side, the more nimble would have managed this easily as it was.The tracks, paths and stairs are in excellent condition. Child friendly for probably 5-6yrs plus (if you don't want to carry them).I would like to come back in winter when there is some snow on the ground.

Lovely walk through forest and alpine tussocks. Beautiful views of Mt Ruapehu Turoa side. Can’t really see the waterfall properly from the platform but if you scramble over some rocks and along the riverbed you can get a better view.

Absolutely stunning walk. Can't recommend this enough. Probably the best waterfall I've ever seen in NZ.Once you make it to the water, make sure you walk up closer to the falls. Its like an amphitheater up close and very powerful. We found it easier to walk up the left side of the bank and river. But be prepared to get your feet wet.

Always a great walk through lovely bush. 1.5 hrs return on a well-maintained, undulating track with partly stepped descent to the stream.

Great walk if you're visiting Ohakune, not far up the Mountain Rd, parking at the trail head.30min walk to the falls if you're a regular walker. Some steep climbs that may be challenging for young kids.Great views at the falls and lovely scenery along the way with some cracking views of the mountain.
