Great atmosphere & music, incredible setting in a historical building, great food & drinks, friendly staff. Definitely coming back, thank you Platform 8!*They have a tasty bar food menu but also do Indian buffet on weekends.*

We had booked the “pre show” menu prior to an event at spark arena, when we turned up there was about 2 staff on and very slow service. The menu was not at all what the website showed - bar food rather than nice Italian food. It looked like food was going to be a while and it was not what we had booked so we did not stay. Looks like ownership had changed and nothing had been updated. Over a month later now and the website has still not been updated.

Gonna start off with the best thing about this place... and that is the vibe!! The old railway station is a stunning place to have the restaurant - there's an antique feel with nice lighting which is just lovely. The service was ok, prompt and the waitress was very helpful. However, just a bit too quick to over to clean up dishes when we weren't finished with them. The food was... ok as well. It wasn't bad overall, just expected a bit better for the price range. Also, the beef cheek we ordered had some burnt things in the dish...??? Odd. Anyway, I hope it's not a recurring thing... the place itself is stunning!

Booked for dinner here, however, when we arrived there were no reserved tables and we were seated at a dirty one. No one provided us with menus or water, or even cleaned the table. The only waitress looked like she was very much out of her depth. The two gentlemen behind the bar were arguing in front of customers and ignoring people who were waiting to be served. Menu looked vastly different from what was publicised and very limited options for non-meat meals. Do NOT recommend.

The loveliest experience. Very nice staff and the food is delicious. $7 happy hour (5-7.30pm) beers and $12 cocktails too! I think it may be newer owners as the food is Indian and Pizza now which seems different to earlier reviews. They were also more than happy to make us a vegan meal.A must do if coming to Spark Arena. Well definitely be back

Food was alright. Service was awfully slow and even more for other diners around us when it got busy, granted it was a show night. Food was interesting, we ordered the fish, lamb, pork belly, and some sides. Pork belly was the best dish followed by the criss cross cut fries. Not sure if I would return again even with Zomato Gold discount, but an OK experience.

What a disappointment! Platform 8 had gone and been bought by new management and have not updated this web page. We were expecting fine dining and got pak n save boxed food. It would of been a good idea for the new owners to explain this when making a booking, language seemed to be a issue However, the food was cooked well and the few staff were trying, good luck as they were only a week in and I'm sure they will put their own flavour in but please update the website or delete it

The staff were great.The food looked fantastic, but lacked any real substance.For the price, I wouldn't go here again - there's too many great resteraunts in Auckland, this facility just isn't up to the high standards I expect for these prices.Great staff, food was average but not great.

We decided to give Platform 8 a try last night. It was ok. The restaurant is placed inside Auckland railway station. Place looks stylish. However, the food was not as high quality as we hoped. We ordered beef cheek, linguine, fettucine and margarita pizza. The place advertised as Italian restaurant. The pizza dough was thick. The pasta noodles were more like Chinese noodles. I don't knw whether they were trying to achieve fusion cuisine but certainly felt not Italian at all.
