Alexander Motel - Taumarunui

Close to town but not too noisy. Great to have an EV charger available at a reasonable rate.If you are coming in winter make sure you pack warm clothes, the rooms only have a small heater which did not heat my room sufficiently (not my sisters suite), we spent most of the time in bed with the electric blanket wearing wool clothes and hats.The owner was orginally helpful in adding draught stopping tape to stop the very noticeable draught coming through the door, but when he came in to listen to the rodents running around in the roof space he simply shrugged his shoulders and walked away. I had explained that I had been kept awake for 3 hours hearing this very obvious rodent noise above my head but was offered no apology or empathy. A simple sorry would have gone a long way, but instead I left exhausted from the lack of sleep and let down by his attitude.

We ended up doing an unexpected mini-detour on our bikes to Taumarunui, and after running in to the owner (Alan) in the middle of nowhere on his bike, we ended up staying there for a night. Great place to stay if you are riding - Nothing was a problem for the owner, including bike storage, even offering access to bike tools if we needed them. Motel is set-back one block from main road, so was nice and quiet, and easy walking access to Restaurants and the supermarket. Room was clean and had everything we needed. If you riding through Taumarunui, this is the place to go-to. (Probably equally as awesome in a car too!! )

Outstanding service, in helping me out after Intercity stuffed up my bus ticket. Couldn’t have met a nicer couple in Alan and Sue. And great value accomodation too.

SERIOUS WARNING : 2 owners are not even helpful but a disgrace to the whole community. they are Rude and Aggressive and they shouted at us for locking our bikes!!! very Rude and aggressive and violent.rooms are very dirty, kitchen is horribly inside the toilet. filthy bathrooms. filthy sheets. No heat or air conditioning. property is very old and funny! leaking ceiling in rainy days. dump moist uncomfortable beds. it is like you have slept on a bunch of rough solid springs. Not recommending at all. there are lots of much cheaper and high quality motels in the town! save yourselves from headache and these rude owners

Clean and comfortable. Well set up. Helpful and friendly hosts. Very handy to town. Definitely will be back. Highly recommend

Stayed here for 2 nights after traveling for a few weeks. Great spot to unwind and the owners are lovely. Laundry on site as well for 4 bucks.

The location was brilliant, a short 2 minute walk to the RSA where we had dinner.The room was all that we required, a bed, bathroom, and kitchenette. The room looked like it had been recently painted, so it was clean and tidy. We didn't have a lot of interaction with staff, but what interaction we did have they were lovely.
