Snapper card and Wellington bus system is the worst! The dumbest system. Either cash or Snapper card, no eftpos! Snapper cards are not freely available to purchase. And not every location that sells snapper can top up snapper. Wasted an hour of walking and trying busses and missing busses. Easiest way to spoil your holiday is start it off as a stranger in Wellington using public transport.

Quick, convenient and money saving. Picked a Snapper card up from a stationery/convenience shop close to work. Downloaded the app easily and very quickly loaded money on to my card. Could not have been simpler.

I’ve called three times (over the course of a year) regarding getting penalised for no reason on bus trips and every person I have spoken to has been short and rude. It doesn’t take much to not be a dick over the phone. I’d rather speak with IRD over the phone than deal with the Snapper ‘customer care’ team.

The way to stop Snapper app activating by proximity to Snapper card is to turn off NFC when not in use.

People were short on phone. Not having to have cash on me was one of the advantages of Snapper, and I thought it was a great way to save money....until my card started getting declined on random occasions. This made me late for work, and was generally a massive headache. I kept on thinking the problem had been solved, but it kept on happening.I no longer shall use this service-and I highly recommend you don't either
