Lake Ferry Holiday Park

It is in a lovely setting and is fantastic for fishing from. A nice quiet little spot with nice people, but only 3 stars because it could really do with being a little less basic - absolutely nothing in the kitchen bar the fridge, toaster, cooker & kettle type equipment, which was really unusual. At the very least it needs a bin in the kitchen! It was clean tho! Cheap and cheerful. Lovely sunset over Lake.

We stayed there in a cabin after cancelling our camping plans due to really bad weather. The lady was very friendly. The first cabin she gave us had a broken window, so she let us stay in another one. It was really warm and had a nice little kitchen. It had no double bed though only bunk beds. Communal bathrooms were ok. Nice setting by the lake and by the sea at the same time! Also close to Cape Palliser and the Putangirua Pinnacles. Not many people go there but it is a nice little place off the beaten path. We had a good shelter from the wind and rain and were glad we weren't in a tent. $70 a cabin with bunk beds and no bedding.

We actually got the wrong place to stay as we thought it was this one we had booked. Noone was at reception just a sign on door saying to contact a phone number but no reception out there. After driving around the site not knowing where to go and scraping up the side of our caravan trying to squeeze through tight bushes and seeing the facilities available we decided to leave. This is mainly used for permanent residents by the looks of it.

Nice spot. Wonderful environment with great views and atmosphere. We had a caravan by the lake and enjoyed 3 nights there. Amenities are fine and the place tidy, clean and informal. Management are relaxed and discreet. Have enjoyed good fishing on other stays, played about with kayak on the lake instead.

The place requires significant maintenance, had to pay extra for a hot shower, service to requirements insufficient, requires more kitchen facilities, perhaps free usage of gas BBQs around the park. Very tired looking and needs significant upgrade.

Arrived in a bit of a southerly blow and were helped by locals to put our awning up on our caravan, without there help my wife would have been blown away!!!. had a 5 night stay there and found the facilities very adequate. Staff helpful and friendly. Pegged down a tent beside us that was preparing to take off in the slight " breeze. Woke each morning to bird song until the weekend when we were woken to the put put of quad bikes heading off to their fishing grounds. All good and not too early to be disturbed. Locals all very considerate. Used this camp as our stepping off point to cape Palliser

For the price we paid for a powered site, I would expect to be able to leave my rubbish and recycling, a lock on the shower door, showers that looked presentable, and some form of marking out of the sitesboundaries

Nice lakeside setting and relatively close to the sea. No reservations possible, first come first served. Facilities rather basic but clean. No swimming opportunities, neither in the lake nor in the sea. This spot is more for fishing and quad biking. Frequent noise of passing-by quad bikes from early morning to late at night.

It's not fancy but it's definitely fabulous. Don't come expecting luxurious accommodation and you'll be fine. Lovely welcoming regulars, a hands off approach from the owners, fabulous views and peaceful, even in peak season! Yes the facilities are a bit old but they're clean and the sunset was ace! We'd definitely go back
