Blackwater School
Brings back memories of early school days from desks, slates and ink wells. Lovely building full of history on the road to the Waiuta Goldfield village.

Very interesting- the old single classroom school still much as it was. Great to show the grandies. Still has comprehensive learning charts on front wall. Even the inkwells remain.Old photos displayed. Well worth a stop for 1/2 an hour- at least.

The turquoise paintwork of this historical building caught our eye as we were driving up the road. Both of us are school teachers, so it wasn't hard to imagine the classroom full of children. The door was unlocked so we went on in. We loved it.

Blackwater School
Blackwater School is a little time capsule. We visited the school on the way to the ghost mining town of Waiuta, and it was worth it. The little flip-top desks complete with ink pots are still sitting in neat rows, waiting patiently for the school kids of yesteryear. There is some information on the walls, and it's obvious that the school is still cared for by local heritage enthusiasts.
