Best place for a nice cool swim, even thought Ecan and Govt are trying to close it down

Scenic area, can get very busy on summer day in the weekend or during holidays. Not only good for relaxing or swimming.. Lots of people bring bbqs/tents/kayak /paddle boards etc. In summer season during the day no dogs allowed. Also possible to walk to Cass Bay from here.

Lovely spot for a swim. Safe swimming for families

Beautiful hidden paradise just a few minutes from Lyttelton central. This beach was very quiet when we visited (in May), but may get really crowded during summer months. Large parking spaces are available as we enter the area, plus a decent playground for children. It also has walking track for those who love a small walk in the bush while viewing the beatiful scenery of the harbour. Kids may love playing on the beach while picking shells and other interesting fossils of sea creature. However, dogs may be freely running around and some may find this uncomfortable. Toilets and showers are available for free to use after beach activity, which is lovely. We will come back soon during warmer days.

Nice sheltered bay and beach to soak up the sun and enjoy a swim

Picnic tables, nice view, clean toilets

Very secluded and popular among the locals. Water is very still due to the natural land barriers sheltering the cove. There is even a playground and areas to have a picnic lunch. Small fish can at times be seen swimming around you. Very scenic, tranquil location although it can get crowded on the warmer summer days.

Nice quiet bay for relaxing. Also has a playground nearby and sometimes an ice cream truck.
