First time I have bought sushi here. Looked fresh, and was well presented. 4 pieces for $8.50 was very reasonable. Tasted delicious. Yum yum! Best in town.

Was very disappointed that we arrived 45 mins before closing and they had shut the kitchen... What cabinet good was left was scarce so ... My daughter enjoyed what she had though

There's plenty of sushi restaurants in Whakatane central and you'd think the busiest were the best. While I can't speak for the others where people were lining up, I can say Mr Sushi was up with some of the better tasting Sushi I've tried. I really liked the way they dressed some of their sushi and the flavours were really good. The shop front might be a little dated, but sometimes, there's a gem within. We set next to the counter and without eavesdropping, we observed some of their exchanges with customers, it was all very good

We go there often. Always fresh, tasty food. High standard of cleanliness. Some effort to reduce plastics. Friendly, efficient, pleasant staff.
