Wairoa River Reserve

A pretty place to park and a good starting point to ride the bikes to Omokoroa. Pity the road is closed beyond and no sign of any repairs happening, but easy enough for walking or biking past the road blocks.

Now this is a great rest stop, underpast for cars heading either north or south state highway 2, or heading down Wairoa Road or Te Puna Station road. In the weekday mornings grab a tasty beverage and park up and have a break. Or just go there for a lunch or afternoon break, and take in the tranquility, just out of Bethlehem.

This was a really nice free spot to park our campervan in overnight.It was a little chilly in the morning but the view along the river was beautiful in the morning sun.Also, there's a coffee van that parks up not far from the area.

Nice way to spend lunch. Beautiful winters day spent having lunch at the Wairoa River Reserve. A couple of other people must also like it. There were about 6-8 other cars all parked up enjoying the gorgeous winter's day down by the river. It's great that there's a fiid cart parked down there to satisfy the hungry tums too. There appeared to be a few vehicles using the through road, rather than making a right turn out onto the main highway. I guess it's a safer option, but a couple tended to zoom through the reserve, or at least when we were there. Inconsiderate if kids were around, playing... Otherwise a nice place to stop, rest and refuel.

Needs cleaning up. Very shady and unsafe.

Its a gd boat ramp and fishing spot also gd for kayaks

Many gangs gather in the campervan parking lot in the middle of the night, which is not suitable for campers and families. The police should often patrol here.

Beautiful place for a stop off but dogs not allowed ☹️
