An amazing stay. A lovely old fashioned hotel. Rooms are nice and serviceable, no en suite (shared bathrooms) but not a problem for us. Shared spaces, can leave bags there while away hiking. And the restaurant downstairs is fabulous, great pub grub. All round good stay

Went here for dinner with the family a couple of nights ago. 3 of us ordered the blue cod and chips, the cook on the fish was perfect. However, the portions were extremely uneven and small especially considering the price (upwards of $40 for two pieces of fish). After finishing my small meal, I ordered the chocolate mud cake as I was still extremely hungry. It wasn't exactly a mud cake but edible nonetheless.

Reception staff were not informative and did not confirm actual days of stay. No other information was offered re our stay. Milk should be available at the upstairs tea/coffee station. Beautiful view from upstairs lounge/balcony.

We had three meals here during our stay on Stewart island in June. Was the only place open when we wanted to eat. Despite having a captive audience, the food and service were exceptional. Some really creative menu items. We were expecting “pub food” and it was much more than that. Also handled gluten free food for two celiacs very well.

Ryan was wonderful, what a host. His potato and leek soup was amazing. Get it before they sell out. Who knew masala and cream could taste so good. Anyway, give Ryan a raise and enjoy the cod

Did not have the same 1BR suite as others in my party who paid the same amount, even though we had supposedly all been booked for 2 years.Staff was struggling to keep up with the renewed business post-CoViD.Breakfast should have a better coffee machine for multiple groups of 10+ people, especially for ferry departure times.Dinners were very good--mussels came highly recommended.

An expensive place for a mediocre meal with no service.Of course this place is on an island and perhaps it is tough to get good ingredients pr something, but it wouldn't take too much to try a little harder and it could be good - but it is not. If you need a meal, go elsewhere. This place is good for a beer, that's about it.

Great food and service in the bar. Sunday night we had the chance to participate in the Trivia night. A community happening. So much fun and comaderie.
