Have been here before but a long time ago. Was really good to have afternoon brunch with my family and the mussel deal was great! Definitely recommend and will return again.

Great waterfront setting with equally good food. Cajun catch of the day (red snapper)was excellent as were the green mussels and raw fish platter. Reservation is probably needed but we were able to walk in on a Friday night and sit right down. 10 minutes later there was a 30 minute wait.

Lovely experience with our family on a sunny wellington day. We sat outside and were promptly served by the staff. I personally had the caesar salad and also the calamari. both were so fresh and very tasty. The salad had lots of toppings on it however the dressing was a little watery, the mozzarella garlic bread could have been cooked a little bit longer as it wasn't really melted or toasted. The calamari was seasoned nicely and cooked well.I had a creaming soda mocktail which was very refreshing and fruity tasting lovely. Wasnt much of an option for kids so that wasnt great. Needed a better kids menu. Everyone else said their meals were very good also. Would 100% go again.

Went specifically for 1/2 price Calamari at 3pm on Thursdays. Was told website hadn't been updated in years and that special is no longer available. I still had the dish since I was there for it but I really think they should have honored the special for me.

Despite the restaurant being busy, they managed to maintain a high level of service. Would certainly return on my next visit to New Zealand.

Busy place. They don't book in advance but the manager was very nice and texted us 40min later with a table available. The waitress- an young lady - was very sweet and helpful. Food is fine, not very pricey...nothing exceptional. Place looks a bit tired. Apart from that everything was good. Recommended.

Tried 5 different dishes, and 3 were satisfying and sad to say 2 wasn't as much.Restaurant can be a little noisy, maybe due to the enclosed place.Dish 1. Softshell crab wasn't as spectacular as mentioned in other reviews to us, and the portion is way too little (3pcs) for NZ$23!!! (Not recommended)Dish 2. Seafood fettuccine. Fettuccine is overcooked and too soggy. (Not recommended)Dish 3. Shake Chowder. Flavourful and thick that's pack with lots of fresh seafoodDish 4. The 'Cheezy As' was fantastic, with just the right amount of garlic flavour and cheese goodness.Dish 5. Cajun catch of the day. Fish is fresh and decent portion.DrinksBanana spilt can't really taste the banana and totally can't taste hazelnut. Only taste the whipped cream and chocolate.Feijoa lemonade was a bottled drink but tasted nice.

We were welcomed in at 11:30am by a friendly member of staff who made us feel super comfortable and was very attentive. Food was amazing and had a great view of the sea. Thanks guys, we will definately be back!

Hey there Wellington foodies. If you're on the hunt for a tasty and filling meal in Wellington, I have to recommend the Crab Shack on the waterfront. And if you're looking for something extra special, you should try The Shack Stack.My dish was an absolute powerhouse of flavor. Two juicy rosemary garlic sirloin steaks that are cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. The spuds are the perfect sidekick to this protein-packed dish.I must give a thumbs up to the presentation - the steaks and mushrooms are stacked on the plate and the spuds are piled up alongside. It looks almost too pretty to eat... almost.The portion size is generous and will leave you feeling satisfied and happy.Overall, I highly recommend checking out the Crab Shack and giving The Shack Stack a try. The food is amazing, the location is nice, and the interior and decor is something unique.

Excellent Service @ Crab Shack..Nearly missed out because I didn't have a reservation or a local New Zealand phone number, and the place was fully booked..After travelling for 12+ hours just to dine here, and be stopped at the door, was incredibly frustrating. Thankfully, staff were willing to accommodate me; I nearly cried for joy..A big thank you and my deepest appreciation to the staff of Crab Shack Wellington!..The Shack-Spiced Calamari (NZD $17) appetizer features large fresh calamari squid rings, coated in a light all-purpose flour batter, seasoned with salt and pepper..Has a bouncy chewy texture and mild savoury salty peppery spice flavour, yum..The Shellfish By The Scoop, Mixed (NZD $19 for 500g) feature a bucket generously packed with a medley of different shellfish, in your choice of stew..The Green-Lipped Mussel, juicy and bouncy with mild natural sweet savoury flavour. The Moon Shell Clam, firm and chewy with intense meaty savoury salty flavour. The Diamond Shell Clam, juicy and bouncy with bold salty nutty sweet flavour..The shellfish, including mussels and clams, were served in my choice of stew; a white wine, garlic, red chili, and cream blend..The stew was thick and robust, with bright milky floral boozy herbal sweet savoury salty spice flavour, infusing the mussels and clams with good flavour, yet you still taste the natural flavours of the shellfish. Very yummy and enjoyable.
