Idyllic spot ! Our family have just enjoyed a wonderful week at Reef Lodge Motel. Right on the beach, white sand, tranquil water, sunny days, so enjoyed my walks. The family fished, swam, had fun on their boat. We feasted on fish & celebrated Christmas all together, making it a holiday to remember ☺

My boyfriend and I stayed last minute at the Reef lodge motel in early January. Leslie and her team were very accommodating and answered every and all questions we needed with kindness, despite the last minute booking and arrival. The reef lodge motel has amazing facilities for families or even couples wanting to run away for the weekend. A spa pool, kayaks, a trampoline, a rope swing, and best of all, the diamond of a view a couple meters from the door step. The rooms are newly refurbished and are stocked with all you need and more.We spent the day by the beach enjoying the clear, warm water, and exploring the reef. We spent the afternoon by watching panoramic views of the sunset. It is rare to find a beautiful white sand beach with a view of the west coast sunset! We took advantage of this and went snorkelling during sunset then jumped in the spa to watch the rest, such an amazing experience. The Reef lodge motel highlights the core beauty of Northland. We had an amazing stay at the Reef lodge motel, would recommend it to anyone!

We popped in as we were looking for accommodation in the area and wanted to see the facilities, we drove in as there is no gate to the property just a driveway. When we got to the end of the driveway and got out, in probably less than 2 minutes we were approached rather aggressively by a woman asking if that was our car, to get back in it and to leave as she has to protect the guests, a man (assuming her retired husband) also approached behind her as if they were looking for a fight. Her name is Leslie, she was horrible, we won’t ever return here or recommend anyone go near this place. Quite typical of Far Northland we heard and she has done this before, tragic. From what we could see driving out, the units advertised are brick-toilet-blocks. We carried on to Top 10 holiday park at whatuwhiwhi and made friends with neighbours, the staff were wonderful and accommodating, the facilities at Top 10 are above and beyond and is beachfront too.

If I could leave a review for 0 I would, was thinking of staying here, drove down and in and as we turned around got confronted by an aggressive Karen that said we can’t drive onto private property we apologised saying we thought it was a motel and she advised it was, we got confused as she kept saying it’s hers and private, if this is how they treat potential guest I can’t imagine how bad they are when they already have your money, hostel and aggressive owner, give it a skip

The location is awesome. But we didn’t enjoy ourselves. The room wasn’t too clean. It’s a bit run down. Feels like it needs a fair bit of love.It wouldn’t be too bad but value for money? I think not

Fabulous spot for a true kiwi holiday. Beautiful beach with white sand and clear water, fishing, swimming, walking. Motelliers Karen & Dick go out of their way to make it a relaxing time. Units are clean and comfortable, with plenty of pillows and clean extra blankets which is something i have never found. I am impressed. Thanks Karen & Dick

The one great feature this place has is the location, the beach is stunning, the water is crystal clear and you could spend hours basking in its beauty. The facilities are tidy and thats about where it stops. Customer service does not seem to be the male managers forte, Leslie is pleasant enough however her husband is HORRIBLE, he is extremely aggressive and unwelcoming, he should not be in the hospitality industry at all and certainly no where near the facilities if this establishment is to have returning customers (if they return). We are a family of four and were only supplied 3 towels, we were also not given any fresh replacement towels on our 3 day stay. If Leslies husband was not aggressive towards guests and he was not on the property at all then perhaps this would be a lovely little place to stay, we certainly will not be returning.

This place is a destination more than an overnight stop. Rangiputa is a jewellery in the crown of Northland. You want peace and relaxation, you’ll find it at the Reef Lodge
