We were a party of 4 and based upon on-line reviews, went looking for this fish and chips shop for lunch when we got into town. It is very much a take-out storefront operation but they did have 4 tables - we got one. The snapper was excellent – lightly battered. Fries were ok. We ordered scallops, and got A scallop. It was good, but $5 for 1 scallop.?. As much as we enjoyed our food orders and the people were great, the value proposition was very poor. Unfortunate.

Oceans 68 was very accomadating for vegan food. Richard and Lee were quick to offer vegan options. I ended up getting a vegan burger with a falafel patty. They went the extra mile to seperate chips from chicken salt to some without, and they ended up being really yummy chips. The burger was a delicious and classic fish and chip shop burger, like the rest of the non vegan burgers. There was a real effort from Richard and Lee to make changes to make things vegan for me and they made sure throughout that the order was followed to vegan requirements. Highly recommend, thanks Richard and Lee!

Great fish and chips!! The owner was super friendly and welcoming. Go for whatever fish they have fresh caught for the day, won’t disappoint and the chips were crispy not soggy. We had the snapper, delicious!

We stopped over for dinner after checking in. The scent of the fish and chips drew us and personally, we were always looking out for good fish and chips and Vinnies did not disappoint.The owner was working without any assistance but he was courteous and patient while we were trying to decide. The wait was but for a while and we were greeted with a wide smile. The food was nice and hot. It did not take too long for the family to finish the food - a testament to the quality.As it was a take away shop, there were no toilets available. Seeing that the kids were in need to use the toilet, the owner was most kind to bring us personally to a toilet - what service.This is a great spot for fish and chips at Paihia - do visit if you are in the area. Located from the main street and across the road from the Tourist info centre, it would be easy to find and a short walk to the nearby supermarkets.

Best fish and chips ever. Excellent service and food. Perfect during a cyclone. Had nut milk and good coffee! Good eating area, clean with bay views. 11/10

Ok so I don’t normally do this :/ but look I’m so sorry but I picked up an order , and maybe 5mins late but my chips had no salt on them , and my fish had half the batter attached to it and the other half attached to the paper?!! Being a chef I just can’t understand how this happens?? Sorry

If you're from the UK and have experience of a chippy, then prepare yourself.Portions very small. I had a fish and chips then had to get a burger AS WELL to fill me up. Chips and fish weren't great.Maybe best to avoid.

Burgers and chips were pretty good and the service was fast, but the $9 whiting fillet was half the size you'd expect and the chips were way over salted.
