Very disappointed. Poor customer service and there is no communication regarding how invoicing and payment works when speaking and dealing with their customer services team. Would not recommend as there are much better services like this one out there. Shop around!

For the second time we have been over charged for an order. We have been charged three times for one order! $300 for a $100 order! We tolerated the order cancellations and changes to our orders as it was a reflection of staff absence etc but to be charged three times for one order has caused difficulties!

I have used Gourmet Direct 4 times over the 6 years.I am not a caterer or restaurateur" just someone who likes quality meat and an easy life :)I use them when I want a bulk order of different meats for an upcoming event such as Christmas or a Party.I like that I can go online and am presented with a huge range of options of different meats

Poor service. Waited more than a week to receive a product. Had to contact them three times. On two occasions order did not arrive on time it was promised. We waited entire day at home waiting for both days. When the order finally arrived it was not the product we ordered. We ordered a provenance lamb but received a different lamb. When we called they stated that it was out of stock. No apologies at all, just thinking we would accept any product as an alternative is absolutely poor. Should they have informed us prior, we would have ordered it when the stock was available.

My parents were given a voucher for these guys and were so excited to get to use it so made an order to be delivered on the 22nd December. But when the box arrived..........1. They didn’t send duck livers. They didn’t send anything at all in exchange for the duck livers. All they did was email an invoice two days later saying they were out of stock.2. They had no quail - which they did tell me about so I took veal instead. To honest, i just took anything as the swap because it was only the duck livers Mum wanted to cook up something special for my Dad after having had major surgery the week before.3. We ordered English pork sausage which they substituted for Toulouse sausage - but didn’t ask if it was ok. They just assumed we would take it.So we rang them to say we knew there was no quail as I’d received an email. Yet they couldn't email to say the other things were missing. I had to ask the woman called Lynn (or Lynne) to stop being sarcastic on the phone. That’s when she said we could return the whole order, a courier would pick up the box and the voucher would be reinstated. But then we get an email from their Head of Customer Success who told me the order would not be picked or exchanged nor would the voucher be reinstated and this was after we’d waited and waited for the courier to pick and I had emailed them to find out what was happening.All I would have done, had I been told no quail, no duck liver and no pork sausage, is to have deferred the order to sometime in January. Then there’d have been no issue. But instead it became like a war of words on the phone and email and it was totally unnecessary.They deserve an award for worst ‘customer success’ in NZ. They obviously don’t realise their words of customer success is defined by customers being happy with their service, not just their goods.Customers who are on the receiving end of unsuccessful service tend to spread the word quickly and getting good customer service is so important and we didnt get any of that.

Best streaks and Wagu I've ever had however last order the spare ribs where tiny only 7 ribs (should be around 12 ribs in rack as is pictured when you purchase online), this is not what is pictured on website and not what I paid for. Also ordered 1 large belly and was sent 2 small. Took customer service 3 days to respond and then basically just argued with me via email. Extremely disappointed if they had called and said what I ordered wasn't available thats fine I would of just got steak, instead sent inferior product to whats advertised, every other order has exceeded expectations, but will no longer be shopping here.

Gourmet Direct - Speciality Butcher
We ordered a rack of Venison from Gourmet direct, to be delivered a week later, to arrive on Thursday in time for the weekend. Amazing customer service. When they processed the order, it showed up that we are rural delivery, which delays things by a day. So I was phoned, advised of the situation, and how best to manage the day later than ordered delivery. Kate was straight on the job to make sure I'd be able to get hold of our order, then followed up that evening to make sure we'd had the delivery ok. Awesome effort. Fanastic piece of venison. Definitely recommend.

Great quality meat, and excellent customer service. I have always found my orders are accurate, and the product is well packed. It is a bit expensive, so I tend to use GDL only for special occasions - but wouldn't buy my Christmas turkey or ham anywhere else!
