Muriwai Regional Park
Beautiful. Absolutely breathe taking.I much prefer to go to Muriwai Beach instead of Piha because its much easier to get to, not as windy, not so far from civilization and you travel through 2 towns with everything you need (petrol, food, snacks, restaurants etc etc etc).

Gorgeous views at sunset and amazing to see the gannet colony! Words simply don't do the place justice. Great viewpoints - not too far from the carpark - doable with toddler!

Great beach with lovely short walk to a gannet colony. Whether the gannets are there depends on the time of the year. They're there from October through March. We were there in June, so no gannets at all, but the views are still magnificent, so a great walk when the weather is fine.

Muriwai Regional Park
One of the best regional parks - you can have sea, mountain and birds with stunning views. The playground was super fun for kids while most people coming here for surfing or see the garnet colony. It’s a paradise for bird lovers or photographers. This is a perfect for capturing the West Coast sunset!

Stunning location. The more wild the weather the more impressive it is! Great cafe / restaurant close to the beach. A short walk with some steps to the gannet colony.

One of my favourite beaches in Auckland. Good access, parking clean toilets, great restaurant, ice cream, awesome play park for kids and the most beautiful black sand beach. It's got it all.

Always a nice drive out to Muriwai Beach, approx. 20-25 mins from north shore, perhaps 40 mins from Auckland city. Great views. Nice beach walk and interesting to see the famous Gannett Colony on the rocks.

Muriwai Regional Park
Stunning area for any weather conditions. Tracks are well managed and amenities are widely available and clean. Sadly, crowded days bring more rubbishes left behind. Gannet colony worth a visit (just hope we are not too invasive for these beautiful wild creatures). The coastal walk is exquisite... not to mention the splendid sunset along the hills watching paragliders and the jawdropping seascape.
