My partner and I have been wanting to come up and try the pies at Blue Rose café for some time, as we wanted to know what all the hype was about. We had a hangi pie, a palusami pie, a cronut and a coffee each. The hangi pie to start off with had two tiny pieces of meat, and was mostly filled with pumpkin, I really wanted to get the full hangi experience but all I could taste was the pumpkin. The Palusami pie was seriously lacking in flavour, tasted like there was no coconut cream at all. I've definitely tried better Palusami pies in Wellington. The Cronut was dry and tasted like it had been in a fridge for days with other food, not to mention it was as tough as leather. Cronuts are supposed to melt in your mouth. Unfortunately the only thing we really enjoyed was the coffee. Bit of a disappointment, and was surprised that this place didn't live up to the hype. I'd be willing to give it another try, but our experience all in all wasn't a positive one. For the prices especially, I really expected more.

We got the boil up and palusami pies along with the platter which had luau, pork belly, potato salad, and we got a raw fish.The pies were nice, big and filling. Good flavours. We swapped half a pie each to compare. The pork belly was good, the raw fish potato salad all ok.Parking was an issue, not much close, we had to park up a side street. Service was below average, decor is on a budget, quirky. It’s was nice for something different 4/10

Loved the palusami pie! Smoke fish pie was a close second. Huge seating and parking spaces. Great stuff Blue Rose!!

Tried the raw fish and Lu'au pie. Would recommend The Lu'au pie 5/5. Raw fish was flavorful. Service was quick, polite. It felt cluttered in the cafe with boxes stacked behind the door leading to outdoor seating area, also on half the window setting area and other areas. Went for the food that Lu'au pie hit the spot. Yum would get it again and get one takeaway next time.

Came here thanks to a friend’s recommendation and got the pulasami pie which was incredible, totally different to bog standard mince and cheese, my son stole half of it instead of eating his ham and cheese toastie and insisted I give this place a 5 star review. The raw fish was nice too, and next time we’ll be back to try the smoked fish pie.

Came here on a cloudy Saturday around brunch time and was able to have a seat immediately. I got the lamb salad and a hangi pie. I enjoyed both but the pie was truly something special, I wish I had more room in my stomach for more pies! I also had a latte that is not pictured but it was the best latte I’ve had in Auckland so far. Cute atmosphere and my waitress was friendly!
