Lila School of Bands

Jesse has been teaching my primary aged children guitar and voice through private lessons for over two years and around a year through Lila School of Bands, where they were able to join others of similar age to learn more about music from a shared perspective. What an awesome opportunity to be taught by such a talented musician, who really knows his craft. Jesse is a fabulous role model for the children, patient, encouraging and approachable. He values their input and puts them at ease. He also provides opportunities for the bands to have experiences outside of the music studio. If you're looking for a place where your child (or teen) can learn more about music and playing with others in a band, look no further!

My son Derek has been with Lila for the last year and it has been amazing to see him grow so much in confidence through Jesse’s programme! The end of term concerts are so enjoyable and seeing our son go from strength to strength has been heartwarming. I would highly recommend Lila to any parents out there looking for exceptional music presents at a great price.

Jesse’s passion, energy and ability to inspire young musicians is incredible and we feel very lucky our son has had the opportunity to be part of the school of bands. Their gigs are professional & inspiring for the kids. I can’t wait to see what he and his band will do next year!

Lila School of Bands is very professionally run with excellent communication, fantastic performance and recording opportunities. Jesse is a great and highly respectful mentor. He gives good feedback to individuals and to the band and is nurturing with his encouragement, fostering their growth. The school has a great culture with everyone supporting each other and new friendships have developed away from school. Our daughter is getting to learn a lot across many musical genres. Also so many life skills learned like harnessing the nerves positively and working as a team. So far a wonderful experience that we would highly recommend. Our 13 year old son has been having music lessons with Darren one on one, for 6 months and is loving it. Darren is completely flexible to suit his interests, while instilling the teachings of his many years of experience in the music field in a personalised programme. I cannot recommend this artist/teacher enough. He is a kind and thoughtful mentor, who takes care to approach the lessons with the view to instilling a life long love of music making. Jesse's talent, skills, commitment and tenacity are amazing. He is absolutely awesome with kids of all ages and has created a great culture at Lila School of Bands. He puts in more effort than we could have anticipated. He really is an outstanding instructor and leader. Lila school of bands has been absolutely brilliant for my music loving boy. It's helped my son connect with other muso kids and he has just loved being in a band and being given performance opportunities.
