Lighthorse Adventures Horse Treks

The horse riding experience with Lighthorse Adventures Horse Treks was truly amazing! It was very well organized, not only was it fun and enjoyable, it was educational too as you get to learn the basic knowledge of how to communicate and control the horses. The horses were happy, well trained and well taken care of, the scenery along the way was stunning, our tour guide Tereza was knowledgeable, inspiring, full of positive, friendly and always on the lookout and ready to help. Will highly recommend Lighthorse Adventures to anyone who would like to experience horse riding in Queenstown!

Thanks to Indigo, Theresa and Callum. We (7pax) have a wonderful experience on the River Wild Experience package on 14 Dec 2022. First horse riding experience for us in NZ. The lesson on the handling and controlling of the horses was brief but specific and succinct. The best one we ever experienced in any other rides. The ride was safe and enjoyable with the scenic views and wonderful weather. We did the stream crossings, riding through the field of Lupins and several trots, with confidence and joys. Very informative sharing of the stories about the place, river and experiences. Put LOTR and aside, just got to know from them that Taylor Swift did her MTV Out of the Woods" at Glenorchy wise choice. The photos were fantastic and we felt like were the characters in the LOTR. My boy loves his horse a lot

Cannot recommend Lighthorse Adventures enough. I go on trail rides every time I travel and Lighthorse has the best guides and well-trained horses to date by far. My group had so much fun, the views are stunning, the rivers are exciting to cross, and we absolutely loved their gentle, partnership approach to horseback riding. The guides are friendly, ready to help, full of knowledge about the area and true experts with horses. We had a mix of experience levels in our group and all had a great time. Do not miss this opportunity to take a trail ride with Lighthorse!!

Made a Google account specifically to write this review, just want to say the girls at Lighthorse Adventures truly look after their horses and treat them with love and care, I found out just by squeezing the middle of the horse's ribcage with your legs will make your horse go forward, whereas other horse trek companies (which i won't name - also in the same area) will tell you to kick (hard) their ribcages to move forward. I really wished i had picked the the half day experience instead of Easy Rider to spend more time with my amazing horse (shadow) and see more of the beautiful landscape in this area. Thanks again Lighthorse team! you girls are beautiful

We went on the Easy Rider trek today and it was absolutely wonderful! Had never been horse riding before but had always wanted to and the staff and guides at Lighthorse made sure it was an amazing first experience. I felt comfortable and in control the whole time and the guides were fantastic at teaching us how to handle the horses. Not to mention the trek itself was stunning! Highly recommend, just excellent quality and service.

The team are very friendly and full of enthusiasm. The tour with professional guide from Luca and the stunning views leave us with unforgettable memory and we just can't get enough. We left our bag and they manage to arrange a drop for us with other customer's help. Thank you for the wonderful experience, their service is definitely beyond 5 stars!

Brilliant way to explore Glenorchy. We were novice riders but felt completely safe throughout the 2 hours tour. We were even able to experience a trot - albeit a very slow one. We also liked the philosophy they took for the animals, which is a gentler and more collaborative approach to horse riding.Go for the River Wild Experience, where you get to do multiple river crossings which were so fun. Highly recommend, even for first timers.

Last minute booking as our prior activity cancelled on us the afternoon before. Was unsure of what to expect but was treated to a fantastic morning out. New to riding horses myself the trainers were super helpful, educational and made me feel at ease. The horses themselves had excellent temperaments and were gentle and so well trained. The views whilst riding on horse back and traversing riverbeds can’t be beat. Don’t miss this!
