Mataura Cemetery
This is a very tidy and attractive cemetery. Although there is a sloping drive up to the internment area, the cemetery is mostly on flat land which makes walking around easier, and the plots easy to see. The driveway is lined with roses which look lovely when in bloom. There is a lovely shaded area under the trees during summer, but little protection otherwise from the elements. Oddly, Google maps took us on a tiki- tour to get to the cemetery instead of using the street it is on. And leaving it wanted us to take a 12km route back to Mataura which is ridiculous. So don't trust the directions without checking the map first.

Mataura Cemetery
The Mataura cemetery is the Gore district's number two cemetery in terms of usage, the average yearly interment during the past three years being around 20. The Mataura cemetery covers 4 hectares of which approximately half is currently leased for grazing.
