Lovely little accommodation in Springfield close to Arthur's pass, friendly staff and a lovely cat. Definitely recommend!

We love it here, quiet, comfy and clean. Lovely couple that run smylies. We enjoyed a restful day spent with the hostel cat on my lap and beautiful garden to enjoy. It's quirky inside and reminds me of the comfort I get from home.

Great value, big unit. Meticulously cleaned & comfortable. Big shower, good kitchen. Even had crystal wine glasses (posh). We stayed in the dog friendly motel unit. Thanks Colin for a pleasant stay. We will stay again if passing through Springfield again. Great little pub with excellent steak meals just down the road.

Collin, one of the hosts, was very friendly. The lodging is cozy (I stayed using the hostel) and has cool history. The kitchen is well equipped and the showers are nice.

Never actually been here but it used to be my grandma's house where she lived with her parents (hence the name Smylie as that was their last name). We love the fact they named the place after them and haven't made too many changes to the original house. Never been inside but what a great venue and my family appreciate the fact they've left it pretty close to how it was and that they named it after them. Lovely garden and stuff also. Definitely going to stay here one day in future.

We had a great stay in The Bowler Cottage with our dog. Lovely restored cottage with heat pump, excellent hot shower, BBQ, and hot plate in the kitchen.

Needed an overnight stop en route to Greymouth from Christchurch. Found Smyllies online and was lucky to get a unit. Although an older building it had been modernized. Very spacious with comfortable king bed, aircon and large wet area bathroom. Excellent shower with good pressure and hot water. Walking distance to hotel for dinner, again to Cafe next morning for breakfast. Can recommend Smyllies, Springfield Hotel for pulled pork burger and Taste of Kiwi for eggs bene.

Colin was and has always been kind and helpful when it comes to caring for his guests. He was very helpful when we needed a place to deliver ski equipment. Clean, tidy, facilities and nice, interesting people.

If your looking for a comfy, clean and welcoming stay look no further this is the place to be. My partner and I enjoyed the good conversation with both the owners and a wonderful cooked breakfast. We would recommend to anyone and won't hesitate to stay again!
