What a stunning little spot. Absolutely loved it. A rustic little cabin/hut it fits a lot of people into a small space. There are two small rooms with bunks and bunks in the kitchen area. Be sure to arrive early or first to get a bed in a room.

Stayed here after some wet weather. There were 26 wet people trying to dry themselves out, which is a bit cosy. To start with, we could not light the gas fire without the rangers help (who was away from hut when we arrived) as it was a bit broken, then it was discovered that over bunk 18 there was a leak and that resulted in two people needing to take the mattress onto the floor while placing a bucket to catch drops. However, with all these problems I was still glad to have the hut and considering its remoteness it is understandable. Everything else was fine, and had the weather been good we would not have noticed the issues.

Hut built in 1970s two bunk rooms and some in main room. Bit tight on indoor recreation/dining space. Ok if not raining as has deck. Good for sunsets and sunrise.

Small hut but very cosy if you're not a large group otherwise, it's a match box. The fireplace does need some time to heat up the rooms so don't assume a warm bed will be waiting, even if you have a sleeping bag.

Authentic experience! We were so glad to reaxh this hut after passing the red crater coming from Mangetepopo road. The ranger Sam was very friendly. There are some nice waterfalls close to the hut. The hut isn't windproof so expect dust and cold winds at night.

Nice and cozy DOC hut. A bit too small, half of the bunks are located in the kitchen/living room. Camp site is right next to the hut on its front.Water is available but treatment is advised. Free gas cookers but no pots. No showers, just vault toilets.Reservations are mandatory during Great Walks season.

Decent hutt with nice views and sunsets/sunrises. Nearby waterfall is great for a swim at the top of.

We stayed here over easter 2019. Compared to most Great Walk Huts it is quite cramped inside, which wouldn't be a problem in summer, but as it was mid/late April the evenings were quite cold and everyone wanted to be inside.

We stayed here last night and it was brilliant. Great facilities. Clean. Easy to find. Beautiful spot right next to a waterfall. Sheltered. Tip: although quiet and everyone was super courteous, bring ear plugs!!! Lifesaver.

A welcome sight after a tough days walking! Beautiful views are a given. Some bunks are in the kitchen area which sounds worse than it is. Go to the waterfall. It was heaven to wash off in the pool at the top after a hard day's walking. Stunning scenery.
