Banh Mi EM - Freshly Home Baked Bread Rolls (Bánh Mì)

Great crunchy bread, not too dry.The best in Christchurch.Pork belly was cooked well. Soft and melt in the mouth.Only down side was the lack of chilli even though I asked for medium spicy. My hubby didn't taste any chilli at all. Probably got left out.

Always buy banh mi here when I visit Christchurch. Love the food and service <3

I ate it all before i took the pics!!!! Had a pork belly with birds eye chilli... WOW.. knocked my socks off I loved it! cold weather and this will make you sweat... Viet Coffee - mate loved it.. too..

The pork belly banh mi was delicious could do without the lettuce but regardless it was still a delicious sandwich. The people who run this place were very nice they readily obliged to my request of extra chilli and coriander. Will definitely give other flavours a try when I am in the area next

Its not the most traditional Banh Mi, which is something the region needs more of v.s. some kind of Kiwi Fusion/less flavor, especially when the key ingredients are available. It was a decent sandwich, this is not a comment on that, its about authentic and key flavors that are missing. The pork cubes definitely just make it taste more basic v.s. the traditional flavor rich grilled pork, and cucumbers are a must, we have those here. The bread used is correct, and that is also key, vs most of the basic boring white bread you find here. Also, it can use more coriander. The sandwich has potential, but I would say Hanoi Alley is the closest to traditional in town, and overall better taste because of the correct preparation being used sans the spice factor. Again, its a good sandwich overall, like the fact its filling enough and meat is not skimped on, but I would not call it a Banh Mi.

My favourite banh mi place in Christchurch (as a westerner) and owners are really friendly. Definitely worth checking out if you work in town.

Delicious pork belly bahn mi. Swap the lettuce for cucumber would be great and more authentic right. Ask for extra chili if you like spicy. Good ice coffee
