Rare day of snowy goodness. Great facilities for a small ski field; large comfy and staff helpful etc. Gun poppy bumpy terrain and a good beginner area too.

Epic local skifield big on the club vibe! Our group ranged from beginner to intermediate, and we were all able to find something up our alley (or slope). For lunch we had toasties (bring your own ingredients but toastie maker provided), and everyone on the mountain was super friendly throughout our stay. One of my friends got injured and the staff were kind enough to help her out and drove her down to Hanmer village far quicker than we were able to by the time we fitted chains. They went above and beyond, and we really appreciate it and can't wait to come back. Amuri round 2? Leshgo!!!

Very scary mountain access. We tried once on our own car, but I don't recommend as it is super narrow road and 4WD required with chains on. After that used a shuttle, but it was very expensive. The skifield is for 'true enthusiastic people ', not for casual family holidays. The lift is basically a rope, that you need to handle, and it is quite tricky to get on and out.You can say good-bye to your gloves.. the staff may provide you a glove protection, though, but you need to know about it and ask.. nobody would offer. In general, do not recommend if the quality of the ski field and safety are important for you.

Bit of a trek up the mountain on some less than ideal roads, but nothing too hairy. Staff were friendly and helpful, but no gear hire on site - make sure you pick it up from Hanmer Springs village before you head up.

When we booked we were unsure what to expect. What we found was a welcoming community where it feels like you are visiting family; the good kind! We will be back, no doubt about it.There are a few things I wish I knew before we went up, and did not see mentioned online (that may be my bad research) and I will list those below to make your stay even better than ours.1: You need a 4 wheel drive with snow chains to access it in winter. I am from the city and this was not obvious to me. Thank goodness there is a shuttle bus that can take you up for a day trip.2: Bring ALL the food you want to eat, and to make your life easier, prepare it before you go up. We had a bunch of pre-cooked food with us, and after a long day on the slopes you don't want to be cooking.3: There is one spot with cell phone reception. Avoid it and you will have an absolutely relaxing time! The whole crew at the hut was amazing, and are doing an outstanding job at keeping the place running. I am looking forward to visiting in the summer and seeing what the hikes around there look like.

The authentic Kiwi skiing experience. Most days you're lucky if there is a dozen cars in the car park, and you could go a very long part of your day without seeing another person. Fantastic. Just make sure you have a good 4WD because the road can be pretty rough!

Not a bad ski area at all, but the road was terrible. We were in a 4x4 but stopped twice to assist people in AWD cars. You need a 4x4 and chains if the road is wet, do not fool yourself. The run is great and we’re it not for the road, this would be a 5 star review.

We had 2 days at the Hanmer Ski Field (Amuri) and we loved every bit of it. We didn't stay at the lodge but definitely will in the future. On our first day, we drove up from Hanmer for some sledding. The slopes were empty and our 6yo had a great time. On our second day we did some skiing and snowboarding. We also has some 1 on 1 lessons. Everyone was so friendly and so willing to help out newcomers like us. Overall, it was a great experience and we'd love to come back. Some tips from our Winter trip:The drive from Hanmer is long and unsealed. It's a beautiful drive but make sure you check the conditions before you go and always bring chains. There is no rental on the mountain (only sleds) you can hire gear from Hanmer Adventure before you go up. They also have have a shuttle up the mountain if you don't want to face the drive. There is no food or Cafe on the mountain. They have a kitchen and tea/coffee facilities which can be used.If you are having lessons, bring cash :)Mobile phone reception is patchy. On Vodafone we only had voice/txt reception. Other carriers might be better.

I think it’s a great hidden ski place.Snow chain is highly recommended, even though we made it to the top without one. As we were reluctant to put on in the begging , but we still put it one after we arrived. As we know for sure u can get down safely without one.The place is small, warm and comfortable. Everyone there is super friendly. Not much of people on the day we arrived, so basically no wait time for the lift.Get on the lift is a bit hard, specially for snowboard, gonna have to take a bit leaning time for that. But all worthy, the snow is super powder, like 70cm pure powder snow!Better check weather first, can become very windy and no visible in bad weather. If u finish around 3, maybe still get time to down and treat yourself with a hot SPA!Oh, no much food there, bring you own lunch, tea & coffee free.
