Home | Welcome to Wanaka Knife Making. Where you can make your own quality knife, from high 01 carbon tool steel. We can help you with your next hunting knife, fishing knife or any specific custom knife you may require. We will teach you how to shape, temper and harden your new knife, so it can be sharpened and maintain a working edge for a long time. We are based in Wanaka, New Zealand and are passionate in passing on our knowledge in making a high quality knife, which is custom suited to your needs and will last you a life time. We can help you with your next hunting knife, Fishing Knife or any specific knife you may require. We can also offer you accomodation for your time here in Wanaka.

Always wanted to make my own knife and Rob got me through the process in one (full on) day. Made a very special piece, super keen edge. Great instruction,you really do make it ,not watch someone else and polish to finish .

We had such a fun day with Rob! He takes you through the process step by step and is always there if you need help. You get to learn how much goes into making a knife and are always able to ask Rob questions. At the end of the day you feel so proud of the knife because you got to do the entire process. If you are in the Wanaka area I definitely recommend!

Delighted with my experience at Wanaka Knife making. Rob is extremely knowledgeable and runs a tight workshop. Comfortable atmosphere and the lessons are delivered well and respectfully. Well worth the time to make the knife and come home with something special.

Wanaka Knife Making
Our favorite day of our 4 month New Zealand adventure so far! Learned so much and we have a piece to take back home with us as well. Skydiving, bungee jumping, etc are all fun in this area, but we felt this was a much more memorable activity as we got hours of learning as well as a beautiful memorabilia piece as well! 10 out of 10 recommend, Rob is an awesome guy and fun to work hands on with in the knife shop. Do it!

Was really fun! He helps with every problem and answers all questions, he really knows his stuff.Your knife gets tempered in the end which is a really nice experience.The finished knife looks really good in the end.I'm actually thinking of doing it again.
