Sunset Beach Surf Life Saving Club
Family friendly beach but beware of the riptides and always swim between the flags. Also be careful of the black coloured sand as it can get very hot underfoot- even in winter. Have some fish n chips frpm the nearby shops afterwards in one of the nearby parks. Bring a boogy board or surfboard if you're so inclined. Only 30 minutes drive from pukekohe

A great place to surf as an intermediate surfer. Not too crowded either. Fun things to do with kids is stay at the holiday park and check out the rock pools and sand dunes.

What is there to say about west coast beaches except epic. Big black sand dunes. Big waves. Vast expanses. Exposed to my outcrops. Definitely a Kiwi feature. Car park was eroding showing the power of that sea.

Sunset Beach is a gorgeous part of New Zealand, and during the summer months, is patrolled by the wonderful Sunset Beach Surf Life Saving Club. Please swim between the flags, as there are many rips along this long, long, Beach and they can be deadly. A great place to watch the sun go down.

What a breathtaking beach! Another NZ treasure. A long surf beach where you can drive onto the sand to unload surf boards & accessories you may need. And.... up on the tarmac above the beach is the most delightful caravan café. I have to give this little enterprise the title of café because they make wonderful coffee & have full range of flavors you may enjoy. There is also home baked food available. Two very cheerful ladies to serve you. A must visit regardless it's a little remote.

Sunset Beach Surf Life Saving Club
Just had the best surf and swim at low tide! This is a super beach. Good waves power good shape water feels really good. Safe and patrolled. Beautiful. Exposed to westerly and south westerly winds. Good facilities for washing changing toilets and nearby for picnicking
