The vegetarian gnocchi was yummy! Not a strong Gorgonzola flavor. The mushroom pasta was everyone’s favorite! The pizzas were okay. Braised beef gnocchi delicious!

Wonderful Italian cuisine in the heart of Christchurch. Cosy ‘bistro’ ambience, with a wood-fired oven for Neapolitan style pizzas. We loved our pastas and the market fish of the day.

Lovely food, warm and attentive service, and a pleasant evening all round. Food came a bit slowly, I guess busiest sitting for them Saturday evening. But the wine flowed and we were happy. Didn’t appreciate being pushed to leave promptly, having spent almost $150 per head and it taking pretty much a full 2 hours for them to produce and deliver our 3 courses, nevertheless the staff were lovely.

Very good main dishes ! The gnocchis were delicious.However i was disappointed by the tiramisu. And the waitress did not know how to pour wine in our glasses …

I went on a dinner date to Francesca for my partner's Birthday. The night started off well, staff was nice and attentive. We ordered two starters, two drinks and two mains which were all tasty and brought out at an acceptable time.Unfortunately the night took a sharp turn. After we received our main dishes the staff completely ignored us. Once we finished our meal we waited for a waiter to check in on us, so we could get a takeaway container, as we did not finish everything. We tried unsuccessfully to get their attention, as they would not even look in our direction. This was incredibly frustrating as they were serving the table directly behind us. It is not hard to glance over at our table after serving others. To top it off, two of the staff members were play catch behind the bar. After waiting 15 minutes I went up to the bar and asked for one myself.I expect that when I go to a restaurant, paying $100+ for two people to be served accordingly. This experience was incredibly disheartening as it was a lovely start. I do not usually go out for dinner to nice" places much

A bit prices but I guess this is normal for New Zealand. I had potato gnocci with beef tongue and the portion was big enough and delicious. My partner got a pizza and it was okay, not a big deal. The snack that we ordered with potato skin was very good! Totally recommend this place for Italian food lovers.

It used to be best Italian restaurant in South Island and we used to go there regularly, it even had dedicated vegan menu under previous management. Now it’s an average place with always same never changing menu and almost nothing to chose from if you are vegan. Out of all options pizza is decent as it’s freshly and properly baked in oven. Wine options are quite good too.

We loved our family night out at Francesca’s Italian Kitchen tonight. We made an error with our booking, and despite being fully booked, the team made space for us in their schedule. Outstanding service that was friendly, genuine and prompt despite a busy evening. We loved our food and you made our time together as a family very enjoyable. Thanks!
