Went there for Mothers day. Waited 1.5 hours after being seated and had no sign of our order turning up. No communication from staff so we up and left. Still had to pay for our drinks.

We often go to Five Star for lunch. They have a variety of dishes. My favorites are 'Crispy Chicken', 'Beef Pho' and 'Lemongrass & Chili Chicken (or Pork)'. The restaurant is a little dark but has lots of tables and the price is reasonable.

Delicious meals, generous portions, caters well for Coeliac and Vegetarian, very affordable food and drinks and very quick service. Highly recommend. Plenty of parking onsite. Recommend booking a table as it can get busy its very popular.

Came with a friend for lunch. We had deep fried prawns and salt and pepper calamari for entree. Mains I had pork with lemon grass and garlic and my friend had chicken with chilli and ginger. Both entrees and mains were absolutely delicious and hot. Prices were relative to the portion size we got and we still had some to take home! Rice hot and fresh and was filled up if we ran out. Service was great. We will be back Five Star!!!

10/10 !! An amazing place with the most amazingly polite & considerate fun staff from junior up to owner management. A truly wonderful experience which must not be missed what ever the reasons may be. Our family of nine have all ready fully payed up - all thanks to their fairness & kindness beautifully displayed, which was always shown to us, thus, & kindly they gave to us all a very generous heavily discounted cash price, for 13 months in advance from this time for 11 family members negotiated Easter 2023 & Christmas /New Year 2023 & '24.Mark Buckley. Very nice prawn and squid dishes. Not overcooked and very flavoursome. A large portion of the lemongrass king prawn dish and tofu medium dish is shown in the photos. Had to take home leftovers of the prawn dish... Can't finish despite it being absolutely delicious... BIG IS GOOD!

5 Star Vietnamese, I love this place, but if we’re being truely honest, it’s a 4 Star Vietnamese. Tidy place, it’s clean and there’s interesting paintings to critique as you decide whether or not to go full Viet and get the banh xeo or the fried chicken… go fried chicken, the banh xeo looks like it’s fresh off the streets of Quy nhon, but it lacks the flavour and the essential fresh greens and herbs that make the dish ngon qua. The pickled side salad was good, the sweet chilli fish sauce sauce also good.I got the classic Com Tam Thit Nuong, the 5 star bbq pork on broken rice… it was pretty good, it didn’t blow my socks off but had authentic flavours and a lot on the plate. My partner went ultra classic with the beef pho, a huge portion with lots of meat. Again it was good, maybe a little too sweet, the noodle a little over cooked for me but my partner loved them. All in all, a great option in the Fendalton area.

Customer service not efficient tonight. Staffs were reluctant to check on diners. Had to wait 30 bloody minutes to be served our food. They had seen we were patiently waiting but no urgency whatsoever. Do better and be more customer-efficient.Creme flan tasted so bland. That one chance that could've turned the experience around. Did not make a good impression. So far so bad, wouldn't be coming back and have advised people not to go here and try the buck elsewhere.

Hands down best Vietnamese in Chch. They have great vegan options, and if you have 4+ people offer an exclusive vegan set menu which includes non-regular menu items. Well priced for the portion, and the staff are always kind and welcoming. Highly recommend my usuals which are the lemongrass & chili tofu and the tofu salad. I recommend this place to literally anyone I meet. Only downside is they don't offer delivery and when I was sick I really wanted their food but wasn't able to drive and get it.
