Gibbston Valley Lodge & Spa

My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon in New Zealand in March 2023 and while the staff and spa treatments were fantastic, I think it falls short of the “luxury resort living” that it boasts online. The rooms are beautiful and have nice views of the vines and are in fact very relaxing. The spa treatments were amazing and worth every penny as well. That being said, for being relatively remote and secluded I think the amenities were lacking. There are nice outdoor hot tubs and saunas adjacent to the spa which are great it would be nice if they had a pool for the warmer days to relax at. I also think that for a five star resort the bikes should be included for guests and not an extra charge again taking in to consideration the remote location and limited dining options. My biggest disappointment was that there were not more dining options, we spent three nights and on a few occasions we were looking for a bite to eat in between lunch and dinner and despite the notebook in the room saying there were all day dining options I called the front desk and they noted there was nothing available until 6pm. All in all our stay was very comfortable and I think that they have the potential to be a really great five star resort I just think for the items they are lacking it’s just not worth the current price point. I think traditionally when one thinks of a ‘resort’ the idea is that it is a place you don’t have to leave eat, drink or relax however during our stay this was not the case. But again the staff and spa were amazing!

We stayed for 2 nights in February 2023. The resort and lodges are luxurious, food and staff fantastic, and there are plenty of activties around. We would recommend taking the ebikes over to Arrowtown.

Fantastic place to stay. The rooms were perfectly clean, service was amazing, views are spectacular. I can't think of anything negative to say regarding this place! It is quite pricy but it was definitely worth it if you want to find a place to enjoy and relax. They come with complementary wine tour and hot pools/sauna with fantastic views.During the free wine tour, we had an amazing tour guide (Bindi) who was super bubbly but also extremely informative while providing us heaps of wine!! I have been to several wine tours and never had such a great experience similar to this. We went and paid for another wine cave tour the next day with Gibbston after that, which was also quite unique with the cave views.

My husband and I had to change our plans last minute and we got lucky and ended up getting a room here for one night and it was so worth it. The staff were the sweetest. The room was wonderful. We ended up eating dinner at their restaurant that evening and it was lovely. Quiet, intimate and a really tasty!

We have stayed in Queenstown area many times and this is our new favorite place! I had one of the best facials by Lorene. So relaxing, tranquil and great products. The staff were lovely and made things as easy as. The wonderful wine tasting by Lee is a must! I left a belonging upon checkout and they are even mailing it to me. Simply the best! Thank you Gibbston Lodge and Spa! We will be back.

Sad to be checking out after a perfect, peaceful stay at Gibbston Valley! Amazing location, beautifully appointed and exceptional service. Nothing to fault here. Spent a day working from our room - reliable WiFi and lots of quiet spaces to get work done with spectacular views. Another day for leisure - took the bikes out to arrowtown, some wine tasting and delicious dinner. Special thanks to Sheree for her very warm hospitality ♥

Come here for my honeymoon. Rooms are decent, but I wish they had smart TVs that were positioned in front of the bedrooms. Restaurant is really good and I enjoyed my breakfast dishes both days I was there. Had a great chat with one of the employees. In comparison to the honeymoon treatment I received from a competitor lodge, my stay wasn't as special however.

We were here for dinner in the lodge. We did not stay this time but we have before.Absolutely fabulous tasting menu. The yummiest of food, flavours and presentation was amazing.Service was outstanding.The Chef presented the meal at our table and personally shaved truffle on our meal.

If we could give this place 100 stars, we would. This was the single best place we have ever stayed anywhere in the world. While the accommodations were amazing and luxurious, what really made our stay memorable was the entire staff at the property. Cherie at the front desk was absolutely amazing. She booked all sorts of activities for us and treated us like family from the moment we checked in. The staff in the lodge restaurant were equally as wonderful with their service and hospitality. We did a couples’ massage as well at the spa and it was the best treatment we have ever had. We didn’t want to leave and will surely be back very soon!!
